Kelly broke her toe. To me she looks miserable. Will be interesting to see how she handles it.

I haven't watched yet, but are the dances so good, that they really bringing the full tens this week, or are they getting over marked?
Oh, I did watch Kelly and Val, that was amazing!! |

Tony and Melissa in their season, Mark and shawn, and even Derek had done hip hop for their free styles. So is pointless really. Judging contemporary or Bollywood? But Dancing with the Stats is what it is, and not SCD. I really don't like the inclusion of this Dances in the show.

I personally think that the producer's angle with this was to challenge the pros as much as the celebs. If you watch the intro packages they were all stressing about trying to teach a dance they have not trained in, especially Karina and Peta. It's theater.

I must say though, that Rock'n Roll/Bolero/jitterbug etc are not a million miles from the familiar dances, whilst Bollywood and Contemporary come from completely different disciplines, so not a very level playing field. Hey ho. |

I think in an Allstars season it's okay and, as you say, challenges the pros as much as the celebs. It also demonstrates how much of an all round dancer they've become (in Bristol's case, not much of one).

Hey ho. I don't also like the game playing aspect they are trying to introduce to the show. I would much rather have the contestants draw out dances, not allow the pro's use their knowledge of the other pro's to chose a dance one pro might have no clue about. Keep this in the US Big Brother, and DWS be about dancing. |

Hey ho. Kirstie's Charleson was technically crap...no surprise there. I didn't like the Bollywood routine. I've watched a few online before and Gilles and Peta didn't do a great job. It was a tough ask. Bristol is trying hard, so I can't fault her in that respect. She and Kirstie really need to go now though. I loved Kelly's routine. I even had a tear in my eye

I'm a bit addicted to this thread today, sorry
![]() I don't think Bristol deserved all 8 scores. Shawn is really good, no denying that, but I feel like each week they have an advantage. Kelly and Val were the highlight of the show for me, personally. |

Overall, the dances were entertaining, but not a very fair competition....
Kirstie and Maks/Charleston. Oh, I didn't really like this much. Not my fave dance (seen too many naff, gurning Charlestons on Strictly). They didn't bother with the swivel thing and I thought Kirstie getting out of the cake was pointless and ungainly (as was getting into the swimming move at the end). Not the biggest challenge and only moderately well done. I'd give it 6. Apolo and Karina/Hip Hop I quite like hip hop and thought this would be a high octane performance but found it a bit underwhelming. (Who knew hip hop had been around long enough to have 'Old Style'? ). I really felt for Karina - it must be so humiliating for a pro dancer to just fall on your a**e like that . Apolo stayed cool and did a good job, but I don't know enough to really judge. Ignoring K's mishap, I would have given them 7.5Bristol and Mark/Rock 'n' Roll Mark should have been able to go lift-tastic and overboard in a way that only Mark can. I rarely feel sorry for Mark, but I'm starting to. I read she asked him to simplify the routine, too! . Be gone, Bristol!! My score: 4.5 (for turning up).Gilles and Peta/Bollywood High energy and good co-ordination between them. I can't say how authentic it was, so it's a bit hard to judge them, but I thought lifts seemed inappropriate and crow-barred in. I'd give them 8.5 Emmit and Cheryl/Bolero As far as I know, a Bolero is a rumba which is a bit ballroom-ified.. . It seemed to be a rumba with lifts. Was Cheryl being a bit lazy with this? . Emmit didn't do many steps and I'm afraid I don't rate his dancing. Wouldn't miss him at all if he left. Score: 6.5Melissa and Tony/Jitterbug Whoever said they were well matched was right, but I feel Melissa has gone as far as she can. I really liked her in her first season (and don't have any negative feelings about her now), but I don't see any massive improvement and this dance was alright but not very exciting. My score: 7 Shawn and Derek/Mambo I think they got lucky with their genre - it shouldn't be new to Derek and she was brilliant. In her first series, she was good (especially towards the end) but I always felt she was too young to express some of the dances. She's grown into it and Derek is very lucky to have her. Great dance. 9.5 Sabrina and Louis/Disco I hate disco. The clothes, the music, the dancing! Hate it, hate it, hate it! I love Sabrina though! She's a proper dancer (not always a subtle one!) and I'm starting to wish they had swapped her and Bristol. Thought the choreo a bit boring and there was something amiss (don't know if it was timing as per Bruno) but it was off somewhere. Still, she did a good job with a hateful genre! . I'd give them 8Kelly and Val/Contemporary Well I love these two, so I'm pre-disposed to like this dance and it was one of the tougher challenges. It was very Mia Michels. They went out of sync at one point, but the lifts were fantastic and they both lived and breathed the routine. I'm in awe of Kelly's core strength - really amazing. (Are all contemporary dances bedroom scenes? Is it compulsory to dance in your scanties? ). Anyway, it was the highlight of the night for me, so I give them 9.5Sorry to drivel on. The judges should have been much harsher on Bristol (unless it's reverse psychology and they don't want to stir a hornets' nest of voting on her behalf...). America, please let her go this week! I dont think Karina fell for no reason.
Apollo's mic pack got loose and I thought it swung round and hit her. |

Thanks for the link, Lili I am looking at the dances now.
Peta's blog http://www.people.com/people/article...638958,00.html Louis' blog Interested to hear what he said about reality stars. 'But if I have a reality star celebrity, they try to manipulate the competition because they come from reality. Sometimes is that those people come across brilliantly and the people at home pretty much are being fooled. With Sabrina, what you see is what you get. That's so refreshing in a world like Hollywood.' http://www.reviewonline.com/page/dat...ol-Palin-.html OTRC interviews. http://www.ontheredcarpet.com/video |

Sabrina and Louis on Ellen, that's the best I've seen Sabrina dance that, she looked matched with Louis.

Fridgesoup, I agree with your assessment, except Kelly & Val. I would have scored them 8,5.
Don't like hiphop and contemporary much, unless it's Lizzie Gough who dances. I could watch her peel potatoes. ![]() Felt sorry for Karina, I think she just lost it. Perhaps because of the mike pack incident. I don't think she was entangled by the cord. Apolo soldiered on admirably. Petite blonde Shaw was just amazing. She's so radiant. I'm afraid Sabrina & Louis are out. |

I don't think anyone could have done a better job with a contemporary dance. Both Val and Kelly committed to it emotionally. Even Derek would just have acted the emotion, but they lived it. Yes, that sounds pretentious - I don't care!!!
I think Sabrina is in danger. Louis wasn't a good match for her at all. Is Disco even a proper style? It looks a bit silly. Melissa and Apolo are also in danger. I can't see Kirstie or Bratstol in the bottom 2 (unfortunately). Shawn is a MUCH better dancer than Gilles. How did he get the second highest average score ever ![]()

. Is Emmit really popular? (Is he a football player? They go further in the show than they should, so perhaps he's safe). I shall be so p****d off if the final three includes Bristol and Emmit (Shawn is a shoo in, surely ) Of the good dancers, I wouldn't be too upset if Melissa leaves, but, hell's teeth, if Bristol and Kirstie stay at the expense of Sabrina, Apolo or even Gilles it will be farce.(Disco is stupid!) |
