Hi there,

Well, my tele has RCAs - now which would be better?

DTT box - AV Rec.
DVD - AV Rec
X-Box - AV Rec.

OR TV - AV Rec.
As those above items will be connected to the tele (via SCART).

Which do you think?

Cheers
Alex

If your AV receiver has optical digital inputs then it's better to connect the DVD & XBox to that via optical cables. If it doesn't then you'll only get Dolby Surround, Dolby Pro Logic or Dolby Pro Logic 2 surround. However I'm not sure if the TV will redirect anything other than the front left and front right signals to the AV receiver, so you may not get any of those surround formats anyway.

Connecting the TV to the AV receiver would cut down on cables, but you're probably better off connecting the devices' audio directly to the AV receiver.

The phono inputs of your tv to your amp will carry stereo signals. Now if something has been encoded in DP, DPII those processes are still carried on the stereo signals and will be decoded if connected to an appropriate amp.

Ideally you want your DVD and XBox outputting in RGB and connected to your tv's RGB scarts or a scart switch box capable of RGB. If your DTT box can output in RGB you should be connecting that to the tv's RGB scart or switch box.

Sound is always best dealt with via the amp. As mentioned above via digital cables ie coaxial or optical if the equipment has the output. Your XBox will sound fantastic via optical 5.1 sound believe me, obviously the dvd player will as well.

I don't know what outputs the DTT has but provided it is connected to your tv via scart and then you have phono outputs from your tv to your amp, you will be able to get surround sound too, not digital though.

Hi,

The DTT box has RCA (white/red - left/right).

Cheers

Well you can just connect direct via the phono cables. I usually just have analogue signals all fed through the tv's phono cables direct to the amp because then I could listen to everything on the one source button on the amp instead of having to switch it another input.
