I apologise if this has been brought up in previous threads but I have a question regarding auditions on X Factor and I'm hoping that someone who was maybe at auditions this year or previous years can help me.

When watching Lucy Spraggan and Ella Hendersons performances on X Factor they sang their own songs and were great! I am a huge fan of these two, however on Xtra Factor their auditions showed them singing a different song.

Does every act have two sing two songs at the audition or do they only sing one?

You prepare a list of five songs (and backing tracks), any one of which you may be invited to sing (hence why all this 'I was forced to sing X' is BS, they can only ask one of the five, if you don't want to sing it, don't put it on the list)

Quite often they may sing more than one, sometimes up to three, for numerous reasons:

a) They're good/audience want more
b) There may be rights issues with the song originally selected (i.e. they may not be able to air it so need another one)
c) They demand a second chance (e.g. that girl who sang Jessie J and Adele
d) Louis is being an idiot

Thanks everyone for your responses. I knew they had to have a few song choices for back up etc but didn't know that they could sing more than one if they were good. The only other time I get to see people singing different songs are the ones who beg for a second song and turn out to be worse than the first performance.

I think its great that good singers are allowed to showcase their voice in two songs and I think we should see more of the good ones singing instead of the novelty and rubbish acts as they are starting to grate on me a little bit.

To spkx: The fourth reason in your list is hilarious!
