Apple TV/XMBC Favourites Question
ns.macd
26-09-2012
I have just got an Apple TV 1st generation & have been setting it all up with XMBC.

Is there a way in which I can organise the favourites I have saved - ie create sub-folders for TV, Films, Sport, Music etc rather than just having to navigate one long list?

Also anyone have any good suggestions as to which plug-ins are worth installing?

Thanks in advance!

You will get a much better chance of a repsonse by asking the question on the XBMC forums on the XBMC site, they're usually fairly helpful.

No, there's not a current way to organise the favourites list. The lack of organisation within favourites is a common complaint from users on the XBMC forums. The best thing to do is go and register on the XBMC forums and add another request for this feature.
What I would suggest is that you find a skin you like, and customise the menu to suit you needs. You can find all the custom skin settings in System > Settings > Skin, from there you can modify the menu bar and create sub-menus so you can add links to movies, tv shows, music, etc... that are within your library and it's a lot easier to navigate than trawling through a list of favourites, you can also add direct menu links to individual add-ons. A lot of add-ons, (including those for streaming content), are now incorperating the 'add to library' feature.
If you need help head over to the official XBMC forums, there's loads of really helpful people on there and the XBMC wiki has lots of tutorials on how to customise your skin menu (it's very easy to do).

Well, when it comes to add-ons there's legal and not so legal... These are some of the add-ons I use.

Legal: iPlayer, ITV player, 4od, Demand 5, Free cable, Crackle, Youtube, Vevo, Hulu, USTVnow (you'll need create an account to on the USTVnow site to use this), all of these can be found on the offical XBMC forums.

Not so legal: 1Channel, Icefilms, Real Hulu, Watchseries. All of those add-ons can be found on XBMChub.com
