Just downloaded the new software update.. seems OK, but how the hell do I put the ATV into sleep mode? Usually I hold down the 'select' button for a few seconds but that seems to no longer work.

Pause or stop anything playing then press and hold the menu button until the screen goes back to the main menu. After 30 mins of inactivity it will power off

not if you have it set up to not go to sleep after a set period of time!

That's the right answer!
It used to be the "ok/select" button, it's now the play/pause button.

it's always been play/pause, it's just that the ok/select button also did the same task.

Beware the latest software update if you use Ethernet... it breaks iTunes Match and MLB.tv (& quite possibly other services too).

I've had to revert to using WiFi to be able to connect.

Ah, fair enough. It doesn't affect *everyone* then.

But it has broken it for me, and it has broken it for other people.

it probably doesn't even affect the majority either.
the usual comparison i use is that if you walk into A&E you're going to find a lot of sick people, but that doesn't mean that everyone human is sick, it's just that you are in a place where stats get skewed.

people with no issue with their device aren't going to go into support forums to report that everything is "working ok".

ps... look who the third top contributor is in the appletv discussions forum.... i've seen it all before

Ha, yes, just seen your name there!

One of those Apple.com threads had a message from royb @ apple.com asking for people to email him with further info of their problem. I've done so. Perhaps it is something peculiar to certain routers or something. I see you have Sky BB... which Sky router do you have? I've got the black Sagem N router.
