Cd System for £150 from argos
Hi everyone
I have £150 of vouchers to spend in argos and want to know the best stereo i cant get from there for the money. It has to have the usual e.g cd radio not too bothered about tape or turntable tho. However i would like to have inputs for my computer and also my xbox. Any ideas most helpful!!! Thanks Paul |

Normally I would say "don't buy audio equipment without listening to it first", but, since you have Argos vouchers, that might be tricky. Maybe Currys or Comet have them, so you can try before buying from Argos?
Of the two you have listed, I would go for the Goodmans. Not exactly a renowned maker of hifi, but most cheap gear is made in China anyway. The Goodmans looks like a proper system, while the LG looks like an old micro system. Goodmans kit is actually pretty good for the price these days. Something to check is that you can plug in your PC and Xbox at the same time. Many micro systems only have one Aux input. The Goodmans should be OK on this score. Steve |

My mother has a Goodmans Hi-Fi she got from Argos last year and it is a good unit.
I have a Goodman's DVD player and again have had no problems. Also it was very easy to make region free and disable macrovision so another bargain. I actually thought about getting the Goodmans DVD/CD/MP3 Kodak Picture CD Surround Sound (512/8138), for my parents as a joint present this year. I know the old man wants surround sound in the living room, and trying to get a speaker set to connect to his exhisting DVD has been a nightmare. Also the thought of combining Hi-Fi, DVD and Speaker Set into one unit with one plug seems a good idea to me. |
