It is showing exactly the same EPG data as 'Nicktoons' on 606.

I remember reading that a version of Nicktoons for Ireland (with Irish ads) was launching on October 16th....so I would guess that "55273" is for that.

So BBC2 HD will launch next year now, not later this year as had been rumoured.

Interesting they've gone for only three services on each Txp, nice to see they've gone for quality over quantity, especially where each service on the same transponder is carrying the same content most of the time. We'll have to wait and see too what they decide to do with the spare capacity on their new Txp, hoping they keep BBC HD going for BBC Three/Four's content.

Aren't they selling off the extra freeview HD channel though? So to keep platforms equal surely they can't launch another HD channel on satellite? They'll probably end up selling the channel space.

As far as I understand it, the Freeviw capacity is per channel, and on satellite it is per transponder. The second BBC1 service has now appeared on tp 50 - currently a copyof BBC1 HD. BBC HD is also here so this new channel will be the final line-up on this mux.

On tp 61 (11.022 H), again it appears there will be two BBC1s. BBC2 is supposed to replace BBC HD so that will probably be on tp 50 with a 3rd (currently spare slot on tp 61.

If they continue with BBC HD, that will probably move to tp 61 if they decide to keep it with BBC2 starting on tp 50.

The dates for these are not known, but the article mentions about the Red Button service on 10.773 H - providing the answer to the mystery of 6390 which has new currently unused PIDs on that mux.

They were but it seems their sole taker (C5) may or may not be in a position to buy it. On the other hand if nobody buys it I suggested the beeb may keep BBC HD going on both platforms. I guess too the beeb may sell off the extra capacity on TP61 to C5??

They've not given timescales for getting TP61 live but suspect 'in a few Months' may be before Christmas and the lockdown (so before the 15th Dec).

I suppose the interesting thing is that having two transponders would allow them to expand at some point to up to 8 HD services quite reasonably, which would be just enough for 4 x BBC One HD, BBC Two HD, CBeebies/BBC 3 HD, CBBC/BBC 4 HD and BBC News HD. Maybe not now, maybe not soon but someday....

Well, now that tp 50 is running in 8PSK instead of QPSK, this is very possible.

Foxtel in Australia use 8PSK and get 8 channels per mux usually in HD. The BBC could in theory put BBC3/CBBC on one mux and BBC4/CBeebies on another making 4 channels on each mux - the same as what Sky have per mux.

In fact I find it very strange that BBC1 HD is not streamed online live - nor is BBC HD at present.
