Hi guys 'n' gals.

Hopefully some of you might know the problem here.

I turned my widescreen Bush TV on this morning, and it was working happily like it has done for the last 2.5 years. However within a few minutes the picture changed to a vertically squashed effect. Here's what it's doing:

TV - squashed vertically, curving in on the sides

The quality of the picture is as crisp as ever, it's just been squashed in suddenly, curving inwards on both sides (seen best on the right-hand edge of my pic.

I think I smelt slight burning like a fried circuit somewhere in the TV, but I'm not sure if that was just the tube warming up or something. I don't understand why somethings gotton fried because my TV wasn't on standby and would have still been cold.

So does anyone know if this is repairable? Or expensive?

Typically I've just given up work to be a student again, so getting a new TV would be financially shafting for me.

Anyone seen this before?

Thanks.

Hehe it is, but it's one of these none breaking tinsels, so I don't think it's that. It's along way from the vents too, so any bits that did fall off would have to be superhuman to get in

Taking it to a repairman now anyway. See what he says :s

That's called an 'east/west fault'. Could be a transistor or two gone wrong (sometimes one mounted on a heatsink) or possibly a small transormer or a diode. Dry joints in that area. Just about anything to do with the east/west circuit.

Well ...that's what I reckon anyway
