It could very well be a month - hairline fractures can take a few weeks to heal- and even then you can't dance immedliately

Isn't she a new mum, now?

I agree at least a month, or six weeks to be safe.

I hope the PTB are on the phone to Mrs Bennett - she should never have been dropped in the first place

My first thought was one of the women from the dance troupe they tried out a year or two ago.

Also, if her injury does take around a month to heal, I doubt Johnny will be left that long so it could be a Heidi and Sylvain/Andrei-type situation as seen on Dancing on Ice.

That report did say that her condition will not be confirmed until tomorrow.

I've had a hairline ankle fracture though, and it took ages until I felt really well..........and my ankle doesn't take the daily punishment and stress that a dancer's does.

Fortunately it sounds like an injury that will heal predictably, but sounds like Aliona will only be able to do some pro dances in the second half of the series.

Best wishes on a quick recovery and looking forward to her return.

They will need to find a replacement quickly for Johnny.

If Colin is still abroad, Kristina may be able to fill in to give them a few days to bring in a replacement.

Lilia would be the ideal drop-in replacement on merit. But the reason Lilia was abandoned must have been antipathy on the part of the producer, so I don't see her coming back.

I have a hairline fracture in my tibia, which happened about three weeks ago and I was told that I shouldn't do any impact exercise for six weeks.

Poor Aliona, though. I know she isn't hugely popular on here, but it's a massive shame for her.

Haha, Brendan has offered to step in for her on twitter!

I agree Izzie - not her greatest fan but wouldn't wish a fracture on anybody at all

Incidentally I believe the producer of this series is a different one to who phased Lilia out

Couldn't Zoe step in - coached by Aliona ????

First and second week scores are combined, so what does this do to Johnny?

Guaranteed entry into the second round?

Well she finally overdid it with her own choreography!
Please don't let Zoe step in - how biased!
It be good to see Karen Hardy - no way will Lillia be asked back since she has no involvement with the show what so ever. Think she would give them two fingers up too if they asked her.

Along with everyone else in the thread I'm assuming Johnny will be dancing and scored as normal in both weeks. When a pro is out they get in a replacement - its only injury to the celeb that results in them getting a bye to the next round

At the risk of stating the blindingly obvious, what an awful thing to happen for the show, but more importantly Aliona. Have to wait and see what tomorrow's update brings right now...

Karen is the only person who springs to mind as a possible replacement, but it's very different to Ian stepping in for Brendan or Brendan stepping in for Artem and Robin as she's no longer involved in the dancing side at all. They simply wouldn't get an amateur involved in a role that demands a professional, as good for publicity as it might seem.

It will end up coming down to simply who is available. People who have quit/ been axed can't (or won't) come back just like that. Strictly for them is over they won't just be sat by the phone waiting for the call to say another pro is hurt, they'll have moved on to pastures new (except Ian but who's complaining... )

I'd love to see Lilia back but I doubt it will happen.

Just hoping Aliona's injury isn't too serious and that she's back dancing soon.

That would be a bit unfair to Johnny and would put him at a distinct disadvantage. As a novice dancer, he needs to feel he's in safe hands on the dance floor and even though Zoe is his daughter and she did very well when she was in Strictly, he wouldn't be in safe hands with her because she's not a pro dancer.

Also it would be very weired for Johnny and Zoe to dance a Rumba!

Johnny is of an age to have done quite a lot of ballroom dancing when young.
