What has happened to Marmite??
Once upon a time Marmite used to be easy to spread until the end of the jar, now the last few jars I have brought it is very hard and sticky almost tarlike and almost impossible to spread on toast. Obviosly I don't keep it in the fridge so it is not that...Anyone else have a problem with this...

Dunno.
I do remember a comedy routine about accepting the new ketchup squeezy bottle but that's it. Doing it with mayo is a step too far!!!

Trouble with marmite/vegemite etc you need a small smear of the stuff not a big squeezed dollop. So can't see the need for the new delivery system myself.

I can never undestand the dislike of Marmite. I think it's so tasty and moreish.
I can see why people dislike Olives - although I like them as well - buta little scrape of Marmite is yum. |

I had a convo with my Year 9 class about this last year (Was a PSE lesson, and a bit of a slow week!).... This is how it went:Siān: So on marmite yeah, it says on the jar "yeast extract". I don't get it? Jamie: Yeast as in yeast infection? Robyn: Eeeugh... what, like athlete's foot? Siān: ....OMG so marmite is like eating athlete's foot? ![]() I didn't disagree with her.... athlete's foot is probably tastier! |

Slightly thicker marmite is probably a good thing for me. Generally if I spread it on some crackerbread, tuck into something else in the meantime and then return, I find it escaping all over the plate, interfering with the marmalade for example. In its favour vegemite doesn't have this incontinent tendency.
According to the marmite people: "Marmite has a natural consistency ranging from thick to thin. We place the middle of this range in our jars, and the thinner consistency in our new Marmite Squeeze Me." http://www.marmite.com/love/squeezy/still-the-same.html |
