Jake Bugg - Interesting singer / songwriter
I was wondering what people think of the young singer songwriter by the name of Jake Bugg. His influences are very old school apparently. He is going on tour with Noel Gallagher shortly. Can I slip in that I saw Noel at the Bic in Bournemouth recently. Quality as ever, big fan of his work. I liked the Jake Bugg song ‘Lightning Bolt’ which I saw on the iTunes festival highlights on TV. I also recognised his voice again at the start of Hollyoaks which was another song of his called “Trouble Town”. Oh, by the way, my wife watches Hollyoaks. Okay okay, I do too lol. Forgive me
![]() Anyway, I think I will get Jake Buggs new album being released in October I believe! Any views on Jake Bugg from people on here would be worth listening to. |

Yup. Promising talent... writes, sings and plays his own songs. Something very rare in mainstream. Radio 1 are pushing him slowly into their schedule aswell so he should do well.

He's been played on BBC Radio Nottingham for quite a while (and both Xfm and BBC 6 Music have picked him up too)- his voice is very distinctive which means he stands out! Can't wait for the album to be released. Fav song so far is Trouble Town.

Thanks for that, 15th October I will definitely buy it.
Yes I agree his voice is very distinctive. I also like the fact that he writes, sings and plays his own songs too. I don’t have anything against singers being written for, but you do feel a person writing their own songs can sing them on a more personal level. His music videos are very old fashioned which I like with a real retro edge to them. He is seen looking through vinyl records in one of them. |

Yes I like him, I've been listening to Lightening bolt and Trouble town a bit on YouTube. His sound is a mix of new and old and it works for him. I think his album will surprise a few people and do really well.

When he's filled his videos locally (Trouble Town, Love Me The Way You Do, Somebody Told Me (I think), Two Fingers*) I end up trying to work out where everything has been filmed! Think I've got most of them sussed

My colleague played his songs to me at work and I really liked them. Having had the p*** taken out of my surname for 40 years I will gladly buy Jakes album, he might just make it cool!!! (a fellow Bugg)

I saw him on the red button today.
It's not really my kind of 'thing' but he's obviously quite a talent. |
