The Sun is usually quite reliable when it comes to X Factor, and thats where todays story originates from.
I don't think its a case of Mel B being shoehorned in to replace Nicole, but Mel is their backup plan just in case Nicole decides not to come back or starts to take the p*ss when signing a contract. It happened last year whilst trying to negotiate with Dannii, and then she pulled out and they had noone. If the same happens again, then this time they have Mel in place.
I like Sharon a lot and am looking forward to her returning, but if Mel B is in the frame then they should just move forward with Louis, Nicole, Gary and Mel instead.
