although we have hollyoaks later every year should hollyoaks air more late night episodes such as king of hearts ect

pre 2006 there was alot of them but these days not so much except for the odd e4 special episodes or online spin offs would you enjoy if they had more post watershed specials and if so what would you wanna see?

any thoughts?

Maybe HO Later and then 1 near xmas/new year. Otherwise ideas could get stale and the actors working overtime. I like HO Later because its only once a year, all the cast and crew put everything into it. If it was regular than it wouldn't be as good, specially the big stunts.

Remove the words 'late night' from your question and you've got a YES from me.

I always love the late night specials, so would love it if we had more.

I like that they have laters once a year. Gives time for a character to be developed and then show something hard hitting. That said, twice a year would be fine with me.

The production values of this year's Hollyoaks Later showed Hollyoaks Earlier up to be cheap quality that is.

I'd rather the 6.30 showing was axed altogether and they produced 1 or 2 high quality Late Night episodes each week

It should really be story driven. If they've got a story that needs that kind of treatment then they should do it. Having it regularly would mean pointless stories like the Neil/Bart/Jono one being created just because they've got to fill the airtime.

Absolutely not. This is what happened to Brookside, it changed it's scheduled to later at night and lost millions of viewers.

I don't see a problem of one every year or so it gives HO the chance to take the soap further then they can with the restrictions on the early time slot.

Hollyoaks has evolved in a way that it's better TV for the later slot. They should have a permanent 10pm slot on E4 and perm 11pm repeat slot on C4, and ditch the current airings. I see that as a step up, but I can imagine the papers ripping it apart and using it to pinpoint the decline of the show.

I have always wondered why a late night soap hasnt been attempted more in the past, you see from the BBC Three EE repeat and from Hollyoaks later that there would be a soap audience around 10pm. I would love to see Hollyoaks become a permanent late night soap, ditch the 6.30 shows and have 4 half hour episodes at 10pm Mon-Thu where the soap could push the boundaries more than its rivals and be totally different which for Hollyoaks is what it needs to stand out from the big 3. C4 are hardly awash with quality shows at 10pm so I dont see how it would create many schedule problems, I know many would say it would be a nail in the coffin and the death of the show but if it was planned in the right way and it doesnt totally change what its about (unlike what ITV did with The Bill) then I would like to think it would work. Viewers need something different at 10pm rather than just the news.

Hollyoaks Later is amazing as we get to see what the characters are actually like and see them more in-depth...rather than their tight-shift characters at the pre-watershed of 6.30pm - were they cannot get away with much - less than EE, Corrie or Emmerdale anyways we just have to rely on how we believe the characters may react to certain situations i.e. how angry or frustrated they really would be in emotional circumstances, and the passion between certain characters that we have to just imagine.

And the scenes in Amsterdam were so comical! Although Bart, Jonno and Neil have smoked 'dope' on the 6.30pm showing before...

I also thought the scenes with Brendan, just were amazingly effective; as we all knew what he was like but never actually visually witnessed it before...it was so graphic! But really good to watch, I thoroughly enjoyed it almost comparable to a film...almost verging on 'Hostel' (as I haven't seen Lock, Stock and Barrel yet) lol!
