Demographic Information for BBC1 and ITV1 for Monday 24th to Sunday 30th September: http://i45.tinypic.com/t86q6b.jpg

Top programmes for the week among 18-49 year olds from that list (excludes soaps and news) were:

1. The X Factor (Sun): 18.1
2. Downton Abbey: 10.0
3. Doctor Who: 9.9
4. Crimewatch: 7.2
5. Watchdog: 6.7
6. Mrs Brown's Boys [r]: 6.6
7. Waterloo Road: 6.3
8. Match of the Day: 6.3
9. New Tricks: 5.9
10. The Paradise: 5.7
11. Leaving: 5.5
12. Celebrity Chase: 5.2
13. Michael McIntyre's Comedy Roadshow [r]: 5.2
14. Red or Black?: 5.1
15. Paul O'Grady: For The Love of Dogs: 5.1
16. Miranda [r]: 5.1
17. Mrs Biggs: 5.0
18. Piers Morgan's Life Stories: 4.6
19. Who Do You Think You Are?: 4.4
20. All Star Mr & Mrs: 4.3

Note: Each number indicates the % of the UK 18-49 population. For e.g. 18.1% of 18-49 year olds living in the UK watched The X Factor (Sun)
And that's why The X Factor won't be going anywhere anytime soon.

When you're a commercial broadcaster and have a show that does those numbers in the 18-49 demo you'd be crazy to axe it.

In other news, C4 are reportedly very unhappy about BARB's reporting errors at the end of last month, which may have had commercial implications in their dealings with advertising partners, and have requested a meeting with the company:

Also means Channel 4's programmes are rubbish and need sorting out. The Channel 4 bosses should book a meeting with Jay Hunt.

A lot was riding on Hotel GB this week I feel and it didn't really deliver last night, only just meeting the slot average for the past 12 months. For a high-profile commission like this, they won't be at all thrilled with the numbers it managed.

It might pick up, but it's going to need to or it will struggle to beat the shows that normally occupy the slots, as well as delivering a lower lead-in to the likes of a fading Shameless and an oddly scheduled 1hr40m edition of Million Pound Drop on Thursday.

Things will pick up at the weekend with the return of Homeland, but C4 could do with more favours from the ratings gods. And not just temporary ones!

BB 2014's been confirmed, the announcement that they'd renewed the contract back in April didn't say whether it would, just that they'd renewed their right to the show as a whole:

Thanks rzt. It shows how reliant ITV are on two shows at the moment. They are the top 2 in this demo but the next 8 places are held by BBC1. Do you know offhand how Strictly does in the demo if it rates, say, 9/10m? I know it's older than TXF but would it beat DA at a similar level of total audience? Can't check myself easily as I'm on my phone.

Never in doubt really. They were advertising bigbrotherauditions.com during the last CBB. More interesting to me was this little quote:

"Who would be your dream Celebrity Big Brother housemates – both realistically and unrealistically?
Unrealistically – Madonna and realistically, don’t want to let the cat out of the bag as we may well be signing them up."

Ooh, what a tease. Might not come off but this quote tells me they will be aiming big once again casting wise, which is crucial for ratings. Nobody wants to watch a house full of z-listers, a couple is okay.

was there ever a YouTube video that went viral, by a Madonna fan? "Leave Britney Alone" type deal.

Saying that Chris Crocker is probably famous enough to appear in his own right

This is grotesque to bring this up in a ratings thread and I apologise. With all the coverage of Jimmy Savile in the papers,I think there will be a lot of interest in this Exposure documentary about him.

There are two ways to look at it. One is that the documentary comes out after he's died and you can't libel the dead. On the other hand guilty people have hidden behind libel laws in the past such as Liberace and Robert Maxwell. This documentary will certainly be a talking point for the week.
Someone on the old thread was questioning the scheduling of Exposure at 11.10pm on Wednesday. I know they have a feature-length Mrs Biggs and the news to fit in, but surely this is worthy of a 10.35pm slot on another day? Say Thursday, there's only a J Ross repeat there: this would probably rate better.

It looked poor from the trailers to me and the trailers don't really give you an idea what the show is about. Is is celebs running a hotel and the hilarity ensues? Who knows? Will people care? I'm not so sure.

BB14 wasn't (well, not since CBB10) but BB15 was a little bit. The announcement just said they had the rights.

I wonder if Boy George will finally go in?

Nine C4 lifestyle gurus such as Gok Wan coach a load of unemployed people working in a hotel. Perhaps it sounded good on paper.

Yeh, should do... I'm glad to see it's actually settled a bit more, with much less of a drop than last week, and still a whole ratings point ahead of its nearest rival...Should stop falling around a 2.8/9 which is still great...

And it appears the mob doctor got a 1.0, looks like the first show to be pulled!!

Sky did i think, should fit well with the Sky1 brand... [EDIT: Actually it appears I got confused, sky have picked up Fox's "The Following", similar sort of show... Revolution does not have a UK broadcaster, as of yet...]

It is amazing, looks like Smash will be moving nights when it returns, probably to a Thursday, needs all the help it can get and could get a small crossover from Glee...

US Ratings

The Voice - 4.5/11 (12.32m)
DWTS - 2.0/5 (12.21m)
HIMYM - 3.2/9 (8.15m)
Bones - 2.1/6 (6.92m)

2 Broke Girls - 3.4/8 (9.02m)
The Mob Doctor - 1.0/2 (3.54m)

Revolution - 3.2/8 (8.40m)
Castle - 1.9/5 (10.33m)
Hawaii Five-O - 1.9/5 (7.72m)

The Voice up week-on-week, beating DWTS in demo and also in viewing figures. Revolution doing well as is 2 Broke Girls. Mediocre rating for Hawaii Five-O and HIMYM. I suspect The Mob Doctor won't be back next week.

Poor start for Monroe. Looks like that is a goner after this series. New Tricks did well. I don't think it has reached its peak yet this series, episodes are getting better I think and getting used to the new character too.
The fact that Monroe underwent a reboot rather says a lot about how ITV felt about it after its first run - and throwing it against New Tricks would suggest that someone high up saw this series and didn't think it was worth showcasing in a 'softer' slot.

I would suggest that the show isn't scoring on two fronts: first of all, it's so obviously a copy of House; and, secondly, I don't think James Nesbitt is quite the pull for audiences that some broadcasters seem to think he is. Murphy's Law and The Deep hardly set the ratings alight.

Add to that Sarah Parrish with her features botoxed into oblivion and it's not a particularly inviting show from the off ...

Unless it stages a sudden recovery, I'd predict its demise - to be replaced by a Grey's Anatomy clone in development at ITV (and originally devised as a Holby City spin-off at the BBC ...).

I was a bit surprised they brought it back at all as the numbers for the last couple of episodes of the first run weren't great and we've seen ITV axe dramas with better numbers than Monroe's recently.

Personally I'm glad it's back as last night's episode was very good and I think it's a shame that it didn't rate well. I'm not that surprised it didn't though - obviously because of the slot but also I think it has a different tone to other ITV dramas and 'traditional' ITV viewers haven't really warmed to it. It's an infinitely better show than Homefront though (which I caught up with over the weekend and thought it was dreadful) so I'm a tad surprised that they didn't throw Homefront to the wolves against NT instead. Homefront on Mondays, Monroe on Wednesdays and DCI Banks on Thursdays would have worked better.
