Oh once mighty NBC. How far you've fallen!
![]() I guess they'll have to soldier through to midseason with what they've got on Wednesdays - at which point they'll probably drop in a 2 hour Biggest Loser, followed by SVU, which might at least salvage some semblance of respectability. Actually, if that did happen, it could wind up leaving the famed Thursdays as NBC's worst night of the week. Now that really is a fall no-one would have believed 10 years ago. |

A trail on BBC One for Russell Howard's Good News after Waterloo Road. They must be desperate considering the poor ratings it's had this series so far in the premier air slot.

It's just the contrast across the week thats so amazing at NBC at the moment. Sundays and Mondays smash it out the park, while Tuesdays are very competitive too. Then Wednesday and Thursday just completely collapse!

I'm A Celeb must be starting the Sunday after Downton finishes. Three episodes of Downton left. And Jeremy Piven said Mr Selfridge will start in January. I've heard good things about it.

The plot of 30 Rock is looking more like a documentary as time goes by.

Tbf, NBC at least has a hit with Revolution (so far) and The Voice and isn't doing as bad as the other networks this season...

If the 9.2m figure that was going around this morning had been the average without +1 and not the peak or average with +1 then I feel Emmerdale would've been a resounding success. It's a shame it couldn't even break the 9m barrier in one showing. I know 8.8m is near enough 9m anyway but every viewer counts when you're looking at how much it increased by in comparison to the other soaps. I see that 10m tuned in for Mark Wylde's murder in 2010, if 10m tune in for the murder of a no mark character in terms of the show's overall history then why didn't more watch the live episode/Carl's death? Was the promotion not good enough, or was it a result of the show not being on top form recently?
I'm glad I did watch though because I thought it was superb and pretty much everyone did a really really good job. Didn't notice any errors glaring enough to spoil the viewing. I'll keep watching for the immediate future to catch the fall out but after that will probably drift back to part time and hope that things pick up when Blackburn clears off (hopefully taking that terrible family with him). |

The Mr Selfridge opener is 90 minutes, they ought to air it sometime over Christmas. Given that I've heard very little about any drama for Christmas on ITV.

Regarding Emmerdale: yes, the audience is only the highest in a year and a bit, but on the other hand, when was the last time it had a 40 percent share? I think you have to go back more than a few years to find that.

If they go on last years schedule, then I presume yes. Last years series started after the results of the sixth live show of XF, and finished 3 weeks later when the semi-finals (of XF) were being aired.

Time was when a 40% share was the minimum required to be classed as a 'hit', but it's pretty exceptional these days, so fair play to Emmers. The total TV audience was only 22m; if it had been 25m then a 40% share would have been 10m. However, viewing wasn't hugely higher in the 8pm hour, so perhaps showing Emmerdale then wouldn't have helped it too much. Quote:

I could see that on New Year's Day or the first Sunday of 2013.
But I expect Mr Selfridge will be Sunday nights in January / Feb paired up with Dancing on Ice. |

At least, I assume it's not the sci-fi actor.)Two of these don't even have a Wikipedia page. A bit part from Eastenders and - oh dear - a refugee from TOWIE. I know we have two of our Olympic heroes on the list, and I always defend DOI's line-ups because ice-dancing is a tougher discipline than dancing and so more difficult to cast, but I can't see anything here to suggest the programme will reverse its recent ratings decline, particularly if it continues to go up against Call The Midwife. |

The DS thread for Hebburn attracts 2 comments. Is that going to be a guide to the sort of ratings it's going to attract? Uh-oh.

Doesn't actually seem that bad and no worse than the SCD line up.

You're joking, right. Thsi is a much worse lineup than SCD. SCD has Victoria Pendleton, one of the most famous female British Olympians ever. Doi has someone called Beth Tweddle who most people have never heard of. And a TOWIE character and a former small-time Eastenders actor that was in it for only a few months. SCD's cast are more well known overall.

There's been a lot of comments from people that this year they have recognised all of the celebrities unlike previous series. |
