I'm looking forward to Hatfields. You know my view on Channel 5 isn't too different from yours, and I am glad they stopped heading towards the ITV2 style of programming.
I still think their programming is excellent, and fills a lot of my PVR with programming I enjoy. Just think the schedules could do with a refreshment at the moment. Channel 5 have always treated their imports really well, and I am astonished to see what they have done with Person of Interest. I would like to see a refresh from February after CBB finished - something like this:

Around 1.5million requests were made per episode on iplayer for the recent series of Doctor Who. BARB's internet viewing survey should prove interesting... any word regarding when it might be ready?

Prize Island is from Endemol (Initial). I think Soccer Aid is the only thing they've done for ITV this year.

Clare Balding is hosting this and I have serious doubts about the format. She is also confirmed as the replacement for Jake Humphrey on SPOTY.

I actually quite like the sound off it. It sounds better than the magicians which was awful. I think it could do quite well. 5-6m maybe.

Saturday Night Takeaway will be back for ITV next year so their Saturday nights will be improved. Lets hope ITV has a better year next year.

I hope it does well but it's an incredibly difficult subject matter. Its not about extreme cases of poverty that most people only see on TV, pretty much everyone knows someone who has had cancer or died from it. Nobody on Comic Relief says "there's a one in three chance one of you will end up living in a slum in Africa", but on this it's "people like you" and I think that makes it a really tough sell as a TV show.

You make a fair and valid point regarding IPlayer but the problem is if someone clicks on and only watches for 1 minute and switches off thinking its rubbish its still classed as a full viewing according to the IPlayer statistics.

On Saturday Night Takeaway I never really realised how well it did. Ant and Dec have never really had a big hit since. I have always thought Ant and Dec doing a Morecambe and wise style show on the BBC would be quite good. the BBC need to pinch them back and give it a go.

I think they could have done so much better than simply becoming ITV faces.

EE isn't must see Television anymore ratings are down and its lagging way behind Corrie, the show isn't even reaching the 8 million mark

Problem with EE is their fans will vote regardless of the shows quality sad but true, can't see Lorraine making much difference the ratings need to increase and fast before the journalists sharpen their knifes

Red Dwarf had 1.23m (5.5%) (figures inc +1) last night.

I've done some calculations on the total TV audience on the nights of major broadcasts (e.g XF, BGT final), and this is what I've found:

XF 2010 final had 32.2m people watching at its peak (19.4m).

The BGT 2009 final had 26.8m watching at it's peak (19.2m).

This years BGT final had 26.2m watching at it's peak (13.8m).

A pretty good start for Hebburn on BBC Two last night, I'd say. I've never been particularly convinced about that 10pm slot they like to push with their comedy - but it seems to have worked OK so far in this instance. Quite unusually for a new comedy, the episode is getting plenty of positive remarks on the DS thread, so I'll be interested if the channel can make this stick with a good, broad audience.

I think it may be axed purely on account of how much hype has been around both seasons, and nothing to show for it. Yes it delivers ok for Fox, but I reckon they'll be coming at it from this broader pespective, especially seeing as they air Idol, and quietly move on. Huge embarrassment for all concerned really, as the UK X Factor has suffered directly as a result of all this pointlessness. I think the second season is really shabbily produced, too. It's like the worst, most cynical production from the UK show, and as if everyone knows it won't be renewed.

Actually it's not, big week should get big numbers and it has not broke 8 million, I see the usual excuses being trotted out I.e not promoted enough, Emmerdale ect, well I'm not buying the pitiful excuses that are used time and time again to defend a poor showing.

EE should be doing numbers closer to or equaling Corrie but its not, the middle of October and the nights are drawing in means more indoors watching tv yet apparently not watching Eastenders.

Eastenders would not be in the mess it finds itself if TPTB got hold of the problem two years past when they realised Kirkwood was not intelligent and capable of executing the BBC's one time flagship show, if he had been sacked then just maybe things would not have deteriorated to the extent it has.

And let me add no more excuses for Newman either, she has been in charge since Febuary yet still has not arrested the decline in the soap.

And here is a point to remember ITV may be bold and again throw Downton Abbey against EE as they know their ace in the hand will trump EE, a period drama against a declining soap.

Speaking of X Factor USA, FOX have changed their minds regarding next Tuesday. They've recut X Factor so as it will be one hour. The comedy block will air as usual from 8pm to 9.30pm (Raising Hope/Ben & Kate/New Girl) with X Factor from 9.30pm. FOX have extended primetime to 10.30pm.

The Mindy Project won't be airing, however. So it'll miss 3 out of 4 weeks. But FOX have ordered 2 extra episodes to take its total to 24. They're showing a lot of confidence in some mediocre rating comedies.

The new schedule means X Factor doesn't face The Voice (although 9.30pm seems unlikely to work too well anyway). Perhaps more importantly, it keeps some momentum for 3 of the 4 comedies. Last year after 3 episodes, New Girl took a baseball enforced hiatus and lost 7 tenths for the 4th episode.

I like Mindy Kalling in the Office but the Mindy Project seems too blah, it's demos and numbers are not good enough to ensure a full back order so what the hell has Fox been smoking?

And I'm pleased to see Last Resort improve slightly, I hope ABC stick with it, getting 7. odd million against TAHM & TBBT on CBS is impressive, NBC's comedy hour continues to tank again though.

More scripts ordered by ABC for Last Resort and 666 Park Avenue according the Hollywood Reporter. 2 Scripts for each show.

They did this for Pan Am last year...

It'll come down to numbers. It always does and on that basis, there's no way it's at risk on its current numbers. FOX certainly can't be making rash decisions at the moment. Obviously if it comes back at a 2.0 after the baseball then the situation changes a lot!

I think they have more faith in Last Resort though, if it can improve its demos and rating stay around 8 million then its got a good shot at succeeding, really surprised about 666 Park Avenue though.

I can see ABC giving Nashville and Last Resorts "pity renewals" at this rate. The former because critics love it, etc and the latter because of it's "death slot" and it's the most male skewing show on the network.
