It's a shame then that they might not have heard of that very useful invention from the 70's - the recording device, now generally known as the humble PVR! Or even that new-fangled interweb iPlayer thing
![]() Because that's what I did - I recorded both programmes and watched them later.

It was mentioned a while ago that we rarely get overnights for CBBC. I have seen that on a few occasions, for Sarah Jane Adventures for example, overnights are reported. What is the reason for this?

Good Morning America (ABC) has been ahead of the Today show(NBC) in total viewers and in the demo for the last few months. Today has had quite a dramatic fall.
The averages for the week of October 8, 2012: Total Viewers: ABC: 4.908M / NBC: 4.332M / CBS: 2.620M A25-54 viewers: ABC: 1.909M / NBC: 1.747M / CBS: 1.059M “CBS This Morning” is up +8% in Total Viewers and up +6% in younger viewers. “GMA” saw +3% / +2% growth, while “Today” continues to be down year-over-year: -16% / -25%. http://www.mediabistro.com/tvnewser/...g-show-ratings The last time NBC won was during the Olympics. And an excellent start for Arrow on Sky1 in the 8pm hour with 888k. I wonder if it dented EE slightly. US imports seem to do well in earlier slots. Terra Nova had that slot too and despite been axed performed very well in the UK. Sinbad also did decent numbers on Sundays in the 7pm hour too. Arrow has been extended to a 22-episode run as well after performing well in The States.

The virtues of the BBC can be found in the fact that this Panorama investigation into the practices of BBC aired... on the BBC. No other corporation would put itself under such scrutiny.

So Emmerdale overtakes EastEnders on Monday night. 7.64m v 7.62m - granted by the smallest of margins but a win is a win. And something I wasn't expecting at all. Emmerdale posted another decent 35% share too. Hopefully the Anniversary bump will continue. And with Corrie ahead of EE by quite some margin on Monday nights now - its hard to know why EE doesn't do well in that slot especially without PoG this week. I wonder what Robbie makes of all this?!

He'll do what he normally does - either ignore it, or put some BBC spin on it Hilarious - especially when it was quite a bit behind at one time.

Stupid media speak again - if "ITV does nothing" for 30% of British audiences, it must do something for 70% of them - which is a cup nearly three quarters full. That's the sad thing about TV though - far more concerned about people not watching than the people who actually are.
The argument is that 30% of people simply don't think about ITV and one of its problems in recent years is that the audiences for its flagship programmes are all declining and no new ones are coming through. So it needs desperately to get that 30% because it can't rely on the same audience it's always had. And as Dancc says, there is an obvious issue with ITV because people aren't watching their new dramas whereas that doesn't appear to be the case for BBC dramas, so people have clearly lost confidence in the channel and don't trust it, so it needs sorting out. For my money, ITV under David Liddiment was a great example of a popular TV channel, it had a lot of swagger about it and it did some interesting stuff without alienating its core audience. These days there are clearly issues and it can't afford to be complacent. Quote:
Weekend TV is just a mess now - even BBC1 has lost it's structure with the loss of the EastEnders omnibus meaning it's just daytime drivel on Sundays and more and more Saturdays now. ITV1 to really suffers from axing it's various commitments (kids, religion, regional, politics etc.) which filled the weekend schedules for
decades and gave it some structure Speaking of Sunday daytime, mind, I find it very strange that Sunday Politics has now been moved to 11am, just an hour after Andrew Marr has finished which does more or less the same thing. Quote:
As compellingly shocking as this Panorama is, I find it preposterous to think BBC bosses canned a celebrity expose to protect a Boxing Day afternoon Fix It revival for 5m viewers that hadn't even been filmed at that point, and a BBC2 cheap compilation show.
Both would have been dropped at a stroke if necessary. |
