That number would have been a bit higher if it was on a night where it was not competing against The Voice and the festival being aired live. Then again, being on an US broadcast network, censors will be surveilling for any swear words and stuff, that it won't be worth it. Whether if it was good buzz or just the Green Day meltdown, that is a better number for The CW. That number might be the same next Monday when eroding 90210 and the final season of Gossip Girl premieres.

NBC did an amazing job with The Voice and they are also confident in their new scripted shows since Revolution, New Normal and Go On was picked up for a full season. No doubt that the sitcoms will stay on Tuesdays, but I still think New Normal might take the Thursday slot after 30 Rock finishes midseason, which I am suspecting will be in January at the likeliest. The Voice is showing the "Best of" from this season's blind auditions before the Battle Rounds kicks in next Monday. They will have nothing to worry about if they can hold on to their audiences, but from the last two seasons, they start to bleed after the spinning chairs have done their job.

As for DWTS, that is shockingly bad. All Stars cycles in reality shows have proven to not deliver in recent years and this one is no different. They can't even compensate for total viewers as that area is also reaching new lows! 12m is really low even for DWTS standards. Castle could have done so much better for their 18-49 demo, but they are still holding strong for their total viewers with 10.35m. It is amazing when a lead-in dependent drama closes the gap with a megahit show.

Partners are in line with The Mob Doctor and Animal Hospital for the first cancellation. I think CBS will have too much pride to cancel a show first. The numbers for HIMYM and 2 Broke Girls are still decent and people must remember that this time last year, the numbers were heavily inflated because of Ashton Kutcher's entrance to 2 1/2 Men, which still attracted massive numbers. Mike & Molly is doing just OK and will no doubt get a renewal, as part of CBS Syndication Club with Rules of Engagement. Bones on Fox is starting to show their age and if The Mob Doctor airs next week, I am predicting they will get below a 1 and there will be reports of "lowest primetime season ratings ever!" and so forth. It will be a field day.

Terrible rating for Eastenders last night. Really low for an October Monday. As far as my records go back (2009) that is 650k lower than the previous record low in October, which was a Friday. October Mondays have never gone below 8million before. Did Paul O' Grady's ratings go nuclear on ITV at 8pm?

EDIT: should probably add that the regular Tuesday Emmerdale clash episodes back in the 2006-2008 era would have gone much lower.”

Frankly I'm surprised EE got 6.91 million if tonight's dire rubbish that is EE is a regular thing, at least with other soaps the go throw the bad but do eventually improve but EE is beyond a joke.

If tonight's episode of EE clears 7 million then ill be surprised, the BBC needs to either get things sorted or get rid.

First time in a while that Ch4 Hollyaoks has broken 1m, and good for first look, I predict the earlier episode on both Ch4 and E4 today did better than usual after the shock death.

Update – Viewing Beyond the TV Set and Beyond 7 days

BARB has included time-shifted viewing up to and including seven days after broadcast since 1991. This includes any viewing either recorded or via on-demand, to content which exactly matches content broadcast in the previous week. With the increase in PVR ownership and proliferation of IP connected services, more content is being consumed beyond this current seven day reporting window.

BARB, together with Kantar Media, has been piloting the facility to report channel and programme viewing up to 28 days after broadcast. Following tests and proof of concept, BARB hopes to be able to announce details of these enhancements to the service soon.

The rollout of the Web-TV meter continues (taking BARB reporting beyond the TV Set). Once BARB is satisfied with the number of homes available for reporting and the production process surrounding them, details of the initial reporting proposals will be confirmed.

From Sam Hodges:

"#EastEnders was yesterday's highest rating show with 7.6m. #HolbyCity and #TheParadise won their slots with 5m and 4.8m #BBC1"

"Great British Bake Off had its highest audience of the series, averaging 4.7m, peaking at 5.5m #GBBO #BBC2"
Score

Great British Bake Off is just a monster! Surely it can't be long until an episode averages 5m - it's getting into Top Gear territory now.

Solid night for BBC1 with Holby up a bit on the past few weeks. A respectable rating for The Paradise and if it settles there it'll probably earn a recommission, but I can't help but feel that the slot is holding it back a bit and for such a big commission they'll be slightly disappointed to see it below 5m.

This really is big news ratings wise. Be honest. There are times when you don't watch a show within 7 days because so much is going on, I know I do. How much of a boost will 28 days later give to programme's ratings? A big boost I'd say. And measurement of online viewing is coming.

Interesting times for ratings in this country.

I often watch my sky+ recordings months after they've aired.

Hotel GB didn't lose much of its audience. 1.6m last night. And Ian Hislop's documentary got 2.3m.

They've bumped Who Do You Think You Are for a special Panorama with a story that's hardly caught anybody's attention? That makes no sense.

Its hardly a new schedule change though, they mentioned Who Do you think You are had been posponed a week at the end of last weeks ep and the Panorama ep has been on the Freeview EPG for at least 4 days, not that it mentions that its Panorama because it doesn't.

That makes sense. Didn't realise it was always meant to go out this week.

Something must have happened between the time the Radio Times came out on the Tuesday morning and Wednesday evening that caused then to show tonights Panorama, don't know what was so urgent, Foreign Nationals getting NHS treatment is hardly the most exciting topic is it..

Bake Off is only slightly behind The Paradise and Holby in ratings terms! I wonder if a move to bbc1 would see its ratings rise even further or jane hadlow will manage to hang on to her commission this time.

Keep Great British Bake Off on BBC2. If BBC1 want hits they should just try harder to make them.
