Yes, that's much poorer for the football than I expected. I thought Man U had a huge fanbase that would watch anything featuring them? .

I can see it happening. Seems like a natural step tbh. I know many people aren't keen on shows hopping from BBC2 to BBC1 but this show has the potential to be a mega-hit on BBC1 with those kinds of ratings.

I know people mention Top Gear as an example of a successful BBC2 show staying put but IIRC that's because Clarkson has always objected to the move. As far as I can see there are no such obstacles standing in Bake Off's way.

Any ratings for Cuckoo? It'll be interesting to see if it improved on last weeks' rating of 1.15m.

Funny review on MediaGuardian of Hotel GB, critiquing the mish-mash of elements and people, and saying the programme tries to do too much at once.

C4 is in a complete mess, no logic to their schedule at all.

Caught a bit of Hotel GB last night, its worrying how up itself Ch4 has become. Not great stuff either.
I suppose its not collapsing, still - the entire schedule this week is an incompetent mess.

The Paradise is doing 'alright' - nothing special. We'll see if it holds at that level.

Yep, BBC One should invest in its own shows, Bake Off won't suddenly increase ratings across the Beeb anyway, just people with BBC One turned on will tune in - its vanity increase - they'll watch other shows and if they really want to tune into Bake Off? Its a single button away.

I can see why something like Torchwood moved up the channels, but BBC Two can manage the budget.
Am not sure why everytime a show does well on BBC Two everyone wants it on BBC One; competition is good; even internally.

Getting there chum.

Dallas must have a real shot at following suit tonight as I can see BBC One and C4 losing at least 2m week-on-week between them, and the big drama competition Mrs Biggs is an extended episode.

I mentioned this yesterday, as mentioned it was announced last week and it's been in the EPG, so presumably it was decided right after the Radio Times went to press - as next week's issue has this week's episode in it. Presumably it was the only option as every other 9pm slot is booked up, but if it could hang on for a week it could surely hang on for another week or two until a more convenient slot became available.

As illustrated by the fact that 8 Out Of 10 Cats performed appallingly when it was opposite Have I Got News For You so the new series is now... opposite Buzzcocks! And on a Monday where it's never been before apart from as repeats, so people will presumably think it's a repeat. The scheduling of that show is very odd, though, sometimes they only do one series a year, sometimes they do three, sometimes they do a series of six, sometimes a series of twelve or more. It's as if they just bring it back whenever they have no better ideas to fill a slot.

Brilliant E4 rating there. If only Ch4 did one showing of it, the Ch4 showing would be around 2m. But it does so well for E4 for big episodes, so I doubt they would have it return to just Ch4.

Horrible numbers for the football there, ITV football ratings have fallen off a cliff since the summer.

I'll be amazed if the post-Super Bowl slot doesn't go to one of The Big Bang Theory or 2 Broke Girls. Possibly even both if they opt to go for 2 half hour episodes rather than an hour long special of one of them. Which one gets the slot will depend on what CBS want to do – make as much money as possible (Big Bang Theory) or try and boost Monday night (2 Broke Girls). Having said that they could try and be really massively adventurous and do a big comedy mash-up after the Super Bowl. Big Bang Theory, Two and a Half Men, Mike & Molly and 2 Broke Girls are all Warner Bros. productions and three of the four are from the same executive producer so its certainly possible to a big mash-up of those four shows. That would give them the best of both worlds in terms of boosting shows and making huge amounts of money. Plus the crossover aspect would probably attract more interest than just one show on its own.

I can't however see them giving the slot to another new reality show and I'm not convinced The Job is going to air in the regular season. At best it seems it would slot in between cycles of The Amazing Race or Survivor. Summer might be a better place for it though.

Not surprising news.

Whilst The New Normal doesn't look especially strong in comparison to Go On its miles ahead of every other NBC comedy except The Office. I still think they need to move it though. Maybe to Wednesday or Thursday and see if they can get anything stronger in that Tuesday slot. Launching 1600 Penn around the Presidential Debates and election is surely too big an opportunity to miss?

unless i've miscalculated, i make that only about 2.2m watching the analysis and ads (assuming 4.7m were watching throughout the match itself).

The 4.69m was a peak at 9pm (could be a 5- or 15-minute peak). Unlikely to be also a match average.

When was the last time a Champions League match actually rated over 10m? What did you expect that match to get?

Come on, nobody's saying it should have done 10m, but it's quite a poor rating. It rated about the same as a couple of United's Europa League games on C5. That's the tournament everyone claims they don't care about on the channel everyone claims not to watch, as opposed to the top tier competition on the top tier commercial channel.

For comparison purposes, United v Valencia drew 4.6m at this stage of the competition a couple of years ago. Fair enough CFR Cluj are lesser known opposition than Valencia, but United did go a goal down. So for the rating to be a whole million down on that is certainly disappointing. Even Chelsea (who don't rate as well as United) v Valencia at this stage last year managed 3.95m.

Maybe even football isn't immune from the effects of the FlopZone.

is there a figure anywhere for the match average? if not, then

a 4m match average yields an ads+analysis of 3.5m
a 4.5m match average yields an ads+analysis of 2.5m
