Digital Spy has updated. But only with ITV ratings.
http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/tv/s183/...-x-factor.html X Factor didn't rise as much as it normally does for that episode. Low for Xtra Factor too. Very good for Downton especially considering the lower lead-in. |

Spooks did well last year. Marr is the worst thing they could have chosen. It'd be posing 2.5m with or without Downton. [very good ratings for ITV last night] |

Equally people complained about the amount of period dramas and repetitive dramas that covered the screens on a Sunday. They can't win either way really.

From DS:
X-Factor - 9.46m (35.4%) * +1 382k (1.4%) Downton - 9.66m (36.9%) * + 1 325k (1.8%) I think that is the first time Downton has outrated X-Factor. |

BARB has released some re-adjusted overnight ratings from last week:
- last Sunday's The X Factor actually averaged 9.84m (36.91%). - last Sunday's Downton Abbey averaged 9.73m (36.75%). Source: broadcast So yesterday's X Factor was actually down week-on-week. I expect more revised overnights to come through over the next few hours/days. |

Breaking: Last Sunday's X Factor had 9.84m (36.91%) in the revised overnights after BARB fixed their reporting error, meaning last night's big reveal episode was down about 400k week-on-week.

The X Factor had the higher peak with +1. 11.2m to Downton's 10.6m but Downton is a ratings beast and timeshifts much better. So it will be the top show of the week I'd assume. The rating might be disappointing by X Factor's standards but for Sunday night on ITV as a whole it's good.
But the live shows are next, if they stay at this level it won't be good enough. It'll be interesting to see if it could grow its audience over the next week. |

[very good ratings for ITV last night] As for Marr, having watched bits, its seems to be trying to be populist with its drama sequences, but it falls between all stools tbh because they are just not good enough. It would not look out of place on CBBC. Iv seen a few posts suggesting its a landmark BBC output, but imo it isnt anywhere near that. Hunted might have worked as an alternative , arguably it wont get many more viewers on Thursdays with much less opposition than it would on Sundays. EDIT: It was curious to read that Fellowes is already suggesting a prequel to DA but stating that it wont be done until DA ends. Im sure ITV would want DA going on for many years, but Fellowes comments might suggest otherwise. Any DA link show would not do as well as the original imo. |

Did anyone here enjoy HOTW? I thought the first one was quite interesting (the second is still recorded) but the only two comments mentioned on Points of View were negative: 'less informative than the videos we were shown in school history lessons', 'cringeworthy reconstructions of events millennia ago' (similar to online opinion someone noted earlier.) It's lost nearly a quarter of its premiere audience so it seems not to have gone down well.
It's also an ABC1-type programme so was always going to struggle in this slot. As mentioned before, a raucous comedy such as MBB would have done better. Maybe the BBC weren't overjoyed with the quality themselves and were happy to sacrifice it? They can still hold their head up and say they showed a knowledge-building, flagship PSB programme on primetime BBC1, a big-budget factual alternative to Downton. Hunted would have done much better but it would have been a shame for its potential to be stunted when it could get 2m more + on Thursday. |

I could be wrong but it perhaps doesn't bode well for the live shows that fewer people cared who made the top 16 than they did about Boot Camp. The viewing pattern seems different for this series.

Presumably Jenny's peak includes +1. Last year's equivalent episode peaked at 12.9m/45% excluding +1.

I got the +1 peaks from Jenny Cummins Twitter feed.

Just for reference the previous incorrect ratings from that Sunday were 8.14m (30.7%) for Downton and 8.86m (33.6%) for X-Factor. So BARB were way off last weekend really.
So it had about 1.9m (inc. +1) last week, not 3m. |

So if we have, say a 10-15% decline for the first live show, compared to last years first live show (both shows), what does that equal to?

Currently BBC 1's Sunday viewing choice is made up exclusively of factual programming. Drama, light entertainment and comedy don't get a look in.

I have to disagree: Homefront will be lucky to get 2.5m so that's another 7 million viewers up for grabs. [OK not quite as viewing is lower on Thursdays than Sundays] In fact the competition from minor channels is quite intense on Thursday but still it's a lot easier than facing Downton.
