How likely is it that ITV4 beat ITV1 in the 9pm hour? That's a dire rating for Homefront. I saw a bit of it last night and it didn't seem that bad if very soapy.

Emmerdale performed well at 7pm but poor at 8pm; that episode is ridiculously exposed and they really need another reshuffle because it's not working there. Why the BBC are pitching Waterloo Road against it when the Wednesday 8pm hour is soap free is a mystery to me as well; it's bizarre scheduling. EastEnders and The One Show both look low considering it's an October evening and Hunted started adequately but not brilliantly.

Wartime Farm and The Choir both recorded superb figures for BBC Two while Hotel GB is at least holding up - if nothing else - for Channel 4. Channel 5 is having a hard time of it of late and I wonder how long will it be until they move try Big Brother in the September-November slot again, like they did with BB12? Yes, it didn't light up the ratings board but it claimed better figures and provided reasonable lead ins than the current programming.

I wonder if Strictly Come Dancing or The X Factor will get the premiere performance of Skyfall in this country? If one of them manages it I guess it will be Strictly due to Adele's issues with ITV.

Red Dwarf X had Dave's second best audience ever. It's best audience ever was Red Dwarf - Back To Earth. I think Dave will be pleased with that!

Yes it must have been the whole evening from 5.30 - see D.M.N.'s rundown on the last page. Strange why they submitted their log like that; the later broadcast would have had a much higher average, as you say. The 9pm hour had a 2m+ average as D.M.N. reports. Perhaps they'll split the evening into two in the official consolidated data when it comes out.

I forgot to say - thanks to D.M.N. for posting the ratings.

It was a good night for digital with Red Dwarf, Celebrity Juice and the football all performing very well. Not so great for Good News, which was squeezed by the competition. Didn't it used to get around 1m viewers in the 10.30pm slot?

Yes thanks DMN for collating all of the ratings!

I think Russell Howard's Good News should be on at 10/10.30pm on a Monday.

Ouch at that rating for Russell Howard. I'm surprised Red Dwarf, Homefront and The Choir actually beat it though.

The Choir and Homefront would always beat Russell Howard as they are on main channels. Red Dwarf has a massive fanbase. Russell Howard didn't stand a chance against it.

Isn't she heavily pregnant now? Not sure she'll be doing many live appearances if that's the case.

I forgot she was pregnant...that's true then; she won't want to perform life then.

someones guess was better than mine, good job im not doing the ratings prediction anymore.

I say this is poor and it deserved at least 5 million, even if it not have the sheer awesomeness of the trailer.

Any chance we could stop this football lark, so viewers are free to watch shows like Hunted? I cant think of a single thing football has done to enhance my life.

Red faces aplenty at C5 you'd imagine this morning when the overnights came through. The miserable time they are having reached its lowest point, being beaten by both ITV2 (primetime) and ITV4 (entire day) in the shares. The latter in particular must hurt given this time last year it was them enjoying the perks of hosting Europa League football, and they must wait three more years before they can get in on that action again. Evidently then a very costly misfire from a ratings point-of-view.

In the short term they ought to be looking to introduce a schedule along these lines on Thursday nights:

8pm- New Cowboy Builders
9pm- The Mentalist [New Season]
10pm- Castle [New Episodes]

That should guarantee audiences of at least 1m/5% and spare further embarrassment. All of the above shows skew more towards females so the football shouldn't be an issue.

Ready for TX in w/c 20th October:

Hatfields & McCoys (New Series)
Starting on Channel 5 this week is a critically acclaimed, Emmy Award-winning all-star mini series that chronicles the bitter feud between two families in the aftermath of the American Civil War. Kevin Costner and Bill Paxton star in this sprawling, brutal epic, based on real events that took place along the banks of the Tug Fork and Big Sandy rivers on the border of West Virginia and Kentucky. The series also features popular British actors Sarah Parish, Joe Absolom and Michael Greco.

Body of Proof (New Season)
Emmy-winning actress Dana Delany returns as crime-solving medical examiner Megan Hunt in the second season of this popular American drama series, which begins this week on Channel 5. The series opener sees the ‘Desperate Housewives’ star back in a familiar milieu when a middle-aged man is found dead in his car after he appeared to have lost control of it. Shocked to find wifeswapping, financial scams and a drugs lab in full swing on the exclusive cul de sac where he lived, no wonder Megan has a constantly changing suspect roster!

Rolf’s Animal Clinic (New Series)
The University of Liverpool’s Leahurst campus is home to one of the UK’s top veterinary colleges. With three specialist hospitals treating cats and dogs, horses and farm animals, and two teams of mobile vets treating patients in their homes, its vets and students have to be prepared for anything the animal kingdom might throw at them. The series is presented by the renowned broadcaster and animal lover, Rolf Harris.

The Removal Men (New Series)
Returning to Channel 5 this week is the popular observational documentary series following the busy, hard working teams at one of the UK’s best-known house-moving firms. ‘The Removal Men’ follows the fortunes of some of the millions of Britons who move house every year and the hardworking, long-suffering lads who help them do so.

Great Birmingham Run (Live)
Kath Merry is joined by David Moorcroft to present live coverage of the Bupa Great Birmingham Run. England’s second city plays host to the third race in the Bupa Great Run series of events, with 18,000 runners taking part in what is the largest half-marathon in the Midlands. Many will be running for causes close to their hearts, raising thousands of pounds for charities and worthy ventures in the process. Commentary comes from Stuart Storey and Tim Hutchings.

Movie Premiere: Valkyrie (2008)
Historical drama starring Tom Cruise based on true events. During World War II, as Hitler drives Germany to the brink of destruction, an army officer leads a conspiracy to assassinate the Nazi leader. However, as the complicated plan is enacted human failings and bad luck combine to prolong the Fuhrer’s murderous reign.

Movie Highlight: Disney's Dumbo (1941)
Disney animation about a baby circus elephant whose ears reach alarming proportions. Made the butt of jokes by his fellow performers, Dumbo runs away from the circus. It takes a little mouse called Timothy to help build up his confidence and bring happiness to his life. With the voices of Sterling Holloway, Verna Felton and Herman Bing.

Wonder where Body of Proof and Hatfields will go? I'm thinking Mondays for Hatfields and Thursday or Friday for Body of Proof, surprised its back so soon.

Nice start for Red Dwarf. I enjoyed it much more than the last series, so I'm glad it did well.

Dismal for Homefront. Not a wonderful start for Hunted, but BBC One rarely seems to have much drama success in that slot on Thursday nights in the autumn, so I'm not surprised. Another four weeks of Homefront should see Hunted settle between 3 and 4m, though.

Big Bang unbeatable yet again. It will be adjusted to a slightly higher rating if that isn't already been adjusted. Person of Interest is still doing well in its 2nd season. Is it just me, or wasn't Grey's Anatomy getting around 20m at one point?

Further to the recent comments about low Champions League (and some other) football ratings, the above looks very strong for ITV4 and the Europa League.

Maybe one way of looking at it is that with so much live football on (and more people having access to more games - both FTA and pay) people are becoming more discerning about which game/(s) to watch - ie watching the live ITV1 CL game is a bit less of an "automatic" watch than it was a few years ago, even for a pretty hardcore football fan.

And last night also demonstrates that notwithstanding recent difficulties, Liverpool remain a very strong draw.

Hunted started OK. I honestly thought it would have done better than that though. Isn't this supposed to be one of the BBC drama highlights? If so, 4.5m isn't great. As for Homefront...ouch!! What another ITV disaster. No doubt they'll run with it. Stuff doesn't really get pulled anymore on ITV.

Emmerdale did fine at 7pm but that 8pm rating is very poor again. Ever since Corrie vacauted the 8.30pm slot, Emmerdale hasn't held up well at all. I think its been sub 6m every week infact. None of these ratings are boding well for the 40h Anniversary and kinda shows what a mess things are at the moment. The whole Thursday schedule has completely collasped now since the removal of Corrie with the second Emmerdale, The Corrie Years and Homefront all rating badly. Why they ever messed with The Bill is anyones guess...their certainly paying for it now.

Body of Proof was actually more successful than both Person of Interest and Dallas have turned out to be for its first season, astonishingly, so I hope it gets the timeslot it deserves. Maybe it's going on Tuesdays as before and PoI is being moved? I noticed that in the provisional listings Tuesday 9pm is listed as TBA, whereas normally they fill this info in for regular programmes.

Hatfields & McCoys is either going on Mondays or Thursdays judging by the TBAs.

Maybe they will do something like this...

Monday 9pm: Hatfields & McCoys (from late October)
Tuesday 9pm: Body of Proof (from late October)
Wednesday 9pm: Dallas
Thursday 9pm: Person of Interest (from late October)
Friday 9pm: The Mentalist (from November)
Saturday times vary: CSI Miami
Sunday: Movie Premieres

That looks quite close to TV heaven for me and should improve ratings.

Blimey. Look at this. Maybe it wasn't Red Dwarf who dented Russell's ratings last night Or does this indicate a large number of illegal immigrants from Albania in the country?

Person of Interest is doing fine on Tuesday, not a smash but it's holding a solid audience and I think moving it to Thursday would hurt it whereas Body of Proof is more female so would be fine on Thursdays as an alternative to the football and Hunted.

The worry is that 9pm may be too heavy on US drama, they do need to fix 8pm as it currently rating under 1m.

Bit harsh on Dancc, he may big up C5 most of the time but he often will point out the times when C5 has a bad night.
