Well this is very disappointing news. So after next week (which will be episode 10/23) they've just decided to stop showing it?! Ridiculous decision. I wonder if they'll ever show it on C5 or just send it over to 5USA or something?! It'll be released on DVD before they've got round to showing it at this rate. And like you say, we're massively behind the US transmission too. I'd love to know the reason they've decided to pull it completely.



As for last night. Excellent for GBBO. I've never seen the show so no idea what all the fuss is about. But Holby City still put in a very good showing. Mamma Mia rated very bad. Strong for EE too and Emmerdale did well considering everything fell apart after 19.30.

I think C5 are losing the plot a bit mate. The schedulers still haven't found a new slot for Cowboy Builders when any weekday at 8 would do. Being Liverpool is being dumped out of primetime for its final episode to accommodate a random film repeat but not before they slot in a random NCIS rerun (WTF?) the week before. And this latest knee-jerk reaction to mediocre but not exactly abysmal numbers for Person of Interest just tops it off.

After a great start to the year audience share is slipping and they are making costly mistakes all over the shop. The schedule is now an incoherent mess. Dallas isn't firing, the aussie soaps aren't firing, they've no football and there isn't even a big factual piece on air at the moment. It's bordering on a disaster, and a lot of it is down to scheduling.

Seriously, they should just hire me. I'm very cheap and very available !

I take my hat off to NBC. The Voice is doing the business for them. I honestly thought it'd be too much too soon. It must be frustrating for CBS as they have the most viewers and nobody talks about it. Back in the 60s when the 18-49 demo first came in CBS ditched loads of popular shows just because they didn't do well in the demo. Glad they're not doing that now.

Yeah things aren't going very well ar C5 atm which is a shame. H&A has been brilliant so far this week. I'm loving Dallas - so its a shame it isn't doing that well. I hope it doesn't fall again tonight - but competition is pretty strong this week with the return of DCI Banks and Grand Designs back tonight. But this decision to stop Person of Interest mid-season is just beyond stupid.

Everybody's favourite ITV franchise, STV, brought back Scottish Passport recent(ish)ly. No idea how it did though.

Incidentally, Dancc, fair play to you on recent posts. Knee-jerk scheduling is never going to be a good long-term strategy.

I think GBBO should stay on BBC2 purely because the channel is finally starting to get its identity back and ratings up.It's not easy to replace hit shows on BBC2 when they go to BBC1.

IMDB have it down as a 2013 series, but that could just refer to the confirmed screening next year on PBS (whose major member station, WGBH of Boston, co-produced the series with ITV Studios).


1.6m inc +1 seems low. We don't often see its rating so it's hard to tell, but we know it's a lot more lead-in-dependent than the BBC version which has a more loyal audience. This also applies on weekends: Sunday's 10.05pm ITV1 news got over 4m after Downton (but still lost to BBC1's bulletin which had a 2.4m lead-in.) Admittedly the 10pm BBC1 news got a Strictly boost last Friday, scoring 5.96m/29%, but it can usually rely on 4m+ viewers come what may. I think the combination of a weak lead-in and being pushed out of slot (by a film repeat! Take note Ofcom!) will have done for News at When? yesterday.


Thanks; it's great to get the gameshow ratings. Someone on the Bothers Bar page which you cited said that the Weakest Link episode repeated on Monday was from 2001! I've not watched it for some years, but I remember some of the questions were topical, so that seems a bit daft and 220k/3.2% is a pretty pathetic rating for it. I wouldn't be surprised to see it axed altogether in January's daytime revamp. It doesn't deserve a BBC1 slot, that's for sure, now that no new episodes are being made.

Breakaway does decent business at 4.30, almost level with DOND. Eggheads can't be far off The Simpsons (which used to be in the same slot on the same channel, of course) once you strip out +1. The Chase is consolidating its lead over Pointless: it gets higher ratings than some primetime ITV1 dramas! Countdown is a shadow of its former self, ratings-wise.

Will the bake off destroy The X Factor if the final was on a Saturday night? Seems to be a gamble but I wish something will knock that awful show on ITV1 out

The Great British Bake Off has surpassed Hunted, The Paradise, Antiques Roadshow, Who do you think you are, etc. Its quite difficult to see how BBC2 can hold on to their hit. Given a primetime slot on BBC1 the ratings could grow further. A shame that BBC2 doesn't usually get to keep its successes!

That would be me. After they ended the show altogether in April 2001. They made some bizarre decision to continue repeating the show on BBC Two but the episodes they've been repeating for the last six months were originally shown in the first half of 2001.

On the contrary, for a highbrow-sounding emotional history of Britain, I think that's a decent rating. I expected no more than 2m, even with a Bake-Off lead-in.

By the time the final came, that peak wasn't that shocking. From the second audition that was when the ratings took off. And the biggest shock was probably the first live show on the Sunday with SuBo getting such huge figures, to be repeated the next day without any overhyped acts


Children's spin offs rate poorly on the whole. Junior Apprntice gets about half of what the adult version gets, and in australia junior masterchef got roughly half of what the adult version got and was scrapped after one series. CBBC is aimed at 6-12 year olds, they are unlikely to point out that there is a junior version during the main show unless there are sufficient 6-12 year olds watching. Even if they could get adults interested in it, I doubt CBBC would be bothered abou them because they are not their target audience. Its like Radio 1, despite Chris Moyles pulling huge figures, most of his listeners had grew up with him and were out of the target range, with the average age of the audience being too high, hence why he was replaced. Sometimes demographics are more important than actually viewing figures especially on public broadcasting netorks like the BBC, where ratings are not such a high priority

At least PoI has been just over a million. C5 aren't getting a million viewers at 9pm 7 nights a week at the moment, so not rescheduling it to another night seems stupid

One minor success however for C5 seems to be Classic Car Rescue which cleared a million at 8pm on Monday (not for the first time?)

Yes, I noticed that. Not bad numbers at all, and will probably get a recommission now. But when Classic Car Rescue is the success of the autumn schedule then you know there's something not right! It's an odd little show if you ask me. A lot of it seems to be staged for the cameras. Not really doing it for me but if people find it entertaining, then fair enough.

The Gadget Show will be replacing it in November with a format very similar to the World Tour except there'll be a greater focus on technology relevant to everyday UK consumers, as opposed to the luxury tech featured in the last series, which sounds sensible. North One, the producers, were boosted by the news today that Discovery Channel have picked up the second-run rights to the last series and will air it right across Europe and beyond in over 120 territories.

Some minor US Adjustments, all up for NCIS, The Voice, Hart Of Dixie, NCIS: LA and the Dancing with the Stars clip show, but Go On got moved down 0.2 so New Girl beat it after all... Still NBC's biggest comedy though.

With both ABC and NBC debuting new shows tonight, Nashville and Chicago Fire respectively, we could see either stronger or weaker Wednesdays for them. And The CW launch their most hyped series in a long while The Arrow which is expected to linger about a 1 in the demo, could beat The Mob Doctor!!

Anyone else expecting monster numbers for Plane Crash tomorrow? Members of the RPG were conservative in their estimates, but I think it could pop up from nowhere and post a really big audience.

4 years in the making, the subject has proven to be effective with audiences in the past, and this bold big-budget piece from Dragonfly looks a step above previous efforts. Hopefully it goes well. ITV have been kind by scheduling one of their weaker dramas against it.

I reckon ITV1 intended to screen Mr Selfridges in place of Mrs Biggs but replaced it with DCI Banks when BBC1 started screening The Paradise. So now they probably won't scrren it until the New Year.

I've just checked today's Weakest Link on the iPlayer (where it was introduced with the BBC1 logo even though it was on BBC2). The episode was indeed from 2001. However there's an entire TV channel devoted to old quiz shows (as you know) - Challenge - whose output includes 321, Bullseye and Blockbusters, all dated from the 1980s. Plus, on Saturday they start sceening Bob's Full House, also from the 1980s and like Blockbusters, nothing but wall-to-wall questions.

Weakest Link repeats must be the cheapest part of BBC2's daytime schedule. Absolutely no chance of the repeats continuing when the BBC daytime starts its new look in the New Year.
