I have a feeling it may do better next week. I watched it and quite liked it. Nigel Slater is the standout their. I wonder if cutting the One show to 30mins has helped Friday nights.

That just about summed up 'Me & Mrs Jones' for me. I bailed out after about 10mins & won't be back for more. I suspect its ratings will drop further next week.

Nigel would be nearer 3m against Corrie though. I agree about TOS. Wednesdays are looking more solid on BBC1 with the hour-long TOS, Watchdog and WDYTYA.

I wonder if ITV1 gained overall in primetime by having the football. They lost two Corries but will have benefited by pre-empting Island Hospital and Piers.

Absolutely nothing to do with EE being opposite an England World Cup qualifier.

That's a similar way to how people reacted upon watching the first episode of Citizen Khan, but grew to like it.

I suspect you're wrong. I stuck with it and it grew on me. Not something I would stay in for, but I can see the BBC giving it a second run. But then I'm 66.

This, plus Emmerdale's ratings themselves are nothing to shout about considering it is their anniversary next week.

The amount of times that trailer has been on I would say 10m is the benchmark here for Emmerdale's anniversary to be labelled a success.

I would say 9m is the benchmark. I think 9m for the live episode would be seen as a success, with high 7s - 8m across all of next week. ITV will be very happy with that, I think.

As for Thursday night ratings, I had really high hopes for Hunted but for me, it's a disappointment. As loads of other people have mentioned, it's all style over substance. The characters are all so one dimensional. There are some occasional good action scenes, but that's it. I don't think I'll be tuning in next week and I can see the figures continuing to drop. I wouldn't be surprised if it goes sub 3m within the next couple of weeks.

ITV1, while not getting the same ratings, would have gained a different audience of younger men last night. 5.5 million is quite good for what was more or less a walkover and also an improvement on the last few televised games.

High 7s??? It can get that for a normal episode depending on the time of year. Oh no 9m minimum for next week or late 8s at the absolute bare minimum and they will probably be looking for a lot more for the actual live eppy. Whether they will get it is another matter, recent ratings are not promising.

Well if those are your minimums, you may as well declare the Emmerdale anniversary a massive flop here and now, which of course you are planning on doing anyway.

Back to EastEnders shocking rating, is that the first time they've been beaten by Emmerdale with no clash? If the ratings carry on like this, the Christmas Day episode may not be the ratings juggernaut it usually is.

As Craig Revel Horwood says on Britains favourite Saturday night show, it would be a "disaarrster" if Emmerdales live show doesnt get over 9.5million. If EastEnders can get 15million and Coro St. got 14million for their live episodes in the last 2 years, no excuses if Emmerdale cant at the very least get 9.5mill.

I said high 8s would also be acceptable for the Mon/Tue/Thur/Fri episodes.

I would expect the live ep to draw at least 9.5m viewers. EE and Corrie both had sizeable uplifts for their live episodes so it is not unreasonable to assume the same thing might happen here.

I realise Emmerdale is very weak right now but next week has been promoted to death which should cancel out the quality of the storylines. Remember that casual fans are drawn into watching these big soap events and they won't know what Emmerdale has been like recently.

Look at Coronation Streets ratings for the week before their 50th anniversary and during anniversary week:

Week before: Monday- 10.8m , Thursday- 9.9m, Friday- 9.7m

Anniversary week rated 3million higher on average with the live episode 4m better. So Emmerdale should rate 2million higher next week for most their episodes around 9m instead of 7m and then 3m more for the big Wednesday live episode which should get 10m.

It won't be as high as EE and CS, but 10 million is possible. In the mid nineties Emmerdale was pulling in 13 million viewers, 3 million behind the big two, so I'd go for 10 million. Do you know if ITV have any nostalgia shows as I quite liked this show when it had Farm in the titles?

I'm not too sure Emmerdale will see the same sort of boost that Corrie (and EE) had for their anniversaries. There has been zero hype or interest from the wider media so far.

I just saw EastEnders 25th anniversary ratings and apart from the live episode they didnt rated much better than week before:

Week before anniversary: Monday 10.4m, Tuesday 9.8m, Thursday 9.5m, Friday 9.7m
Anniversary week: Monday 10.4m, Tuesday 10.5m, Thursday 10.8m, Friday 14.9m [live]

Unlike Coro St. which was rating much better for all its episodes for its anniversary week, only live episode for Eastenders rated much better with 5million more people watching than previous Friday.

The Monday night episodes on Corrie anniversary week featured their big set-piece train crash stunt, so that's why the ratings soared.

The X Factor playing up the deadlock drama. Was there any doubt? I expect ratings to go up based on curiosity this weekend.

I think Strictly will still be victorious because it finishes at a better time than last week and has more positive word of mouth about it because of some great performances last week especially from Lisa Riley who surprised everyone. XFactor finishing too late tonight for a family programme. I really like Derren Brown trailer btw, defo will be watching that.
