A very quick ad break from ITV - are they doing deals on the fly?
![]() The whole fiasco is hilarious - the stadium has got a flipping roof!

It would be a disgrace if ITV went straight from the end of Em tomorrow to the national anthems. They are obliged to do a proper build up. Why not cut ten minutes off Emmerdale, or air it fifteen minutes earlier, cut an ad break etc?

They want to persevere for another hour - hilarious!
This could be the most watched ITV pre match coverage in years, especially when the magic heaters turn the ground into a steam bath shortly! ![]() |

![]() They may be "obliged" to do a build up, but they are also obliged to give the viewers something they've been building up to for months, in place of what is after all only a qualifier. |

They could have kick off at 8.10 tomorrow. When BBC used to show some England matches on Tuesdays in the noughties, they used to show Eastenders at 7.30pm, then England coverage started at 8o'clock and kick off at 8.10.
It will kick off at the same time, 8pm. |

If they could encourage the cast to take a leave out of this chap's book when saying their lines.....
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IaadphJyy50 ![]() Faster, faster. ![]() Maybe they'll pull the schedule back 15 minutes or maybe they'll switch the build up to ITV4. |

This football delay could really impact ITV's scheduling. Maybe Great British Bake Off can get 7m tonight after all?

Because Emmerdale's got a once in a lifetime event happening tomorrow and deserves to be the priority.

Re: Australia's Got Talent - TV Tonight reporting once again all judges except Dannii will be shown the door and that Seven will schedule it away from The Voice. I don't know why they don't move it to a February start really. Hopefully the low ratings will see some live shows cut - the "Grand Final" was played out over a month this year. |

Yeah, I'm sure FIFA and the Polish FA will have ITV's scheduling issues at the top of their minds....

There is no way that Emmerdale won't be at 7pm tomorrow night.
The solution is simple, build-up at 7.30pm on ITV4. 8pm on ITV1, kick-off 8.05pm. Why wouldn't FIFA and the Polish FA oblige British TV, it's their mess-up ? |

not sure you can just cut an ad break from Ememrdale, im sure the production staff have plans on what to do during that ad break, people that will need to get from one place to another. It would take a major rewrite at this stage to cut an ad break.
Anyways, even I would struggle to not to feel a little sorry for ITV in this situation, it isnt even their fault this roof (mentioned in the thread was not closed) ITV (if contracts allow) would be best doing some build up on ITV 4, its going to be really tough for them tomorrow. As for tonight, should they not have plans on what to do if the game does not air for some reason? |

I wouldn't guarantee the game would be an 8pm kick-off - a bit of pressure from the Premier League could see it played in daytime. 8pm would suit ITV1 (though 8.10-8.15pm would be best) - but if they give it a 7pm kick-off that screws Emmerdale, though it could move to 9pm. I guess 7.30pm would be the worst possible kick-off time.
And for all those suggesting Emmerdale should be moved about, that isn't really an option. It would be an absolute nightmare for the production team to add or remove 2 hours of their schedule tomorrow, which will be very busy and planned to the minute, at less than 24 hours notice. |

Just to check, does ITV1 absolutely have to broadcast it live? Surely their commitments to the live episode tomorrow are more important than the commitments to the match, given how much work and promotion's gone into it?

Still got mixed feelings about these - three great characters but still wish the Cassie and Cook storylines had been left unresolved. Seems wise though to ignore the latest cast - originally it was supposed to be one special for each era.
Any ratings for the Euro 2012 game which was postponed five minutes in and Adrian Chiles had to fill for an hour. |

Next pitch inspection at 8.45.
But, says Mark Pougatch on Radio 5 Live, "It keeps raining and the puddles have just got bigger. The roof has not moved one iota." |

Surely it allows for broadcasts to be null and void if another country's incompetence causes the game to clash with one of their biggest projects of the year? There's no angle from which this should be viewed as ITV's problem, they had nothing to do with it.

Tough one. Emmerdale's live episode has higher ratings potential than the match so should probably take priority in that sense.
But ITV's reputation for football is in the toilet already. Ditching buildup for a big game such as this would only serve to do more harm. Massive headache all round this for ITV. I could see them having to move Emmerdale a little earlier at the very least. |

Ratings probably won't be too bad for this hour, viewers like sticking with rain as evidenced by the Grand Prix a few years ago (Canadian I think?).
