8pm kick off, build up on itv4 - Obviously more likely to be 7.45 ideally but I wonder if thye might have some leeway - I'm sure broadcasters have some say on kick off times.

It's the fault of UEFA and the Polish stadium authorities.

Sure Poland wanting nothing to do with a game on Wednesday is not linked to their currently injured captain?

Surely build up could stay on ITV2

And also, this being the ratings thread, moving Emmerdale pre-7pm will really harm the ratings for what is meant to be a big deal for them.

Rumour is the match will be played at 3pm tomorrow afternoon. At least that will solve the Emmerdale issue...

Would the advertisers and such be involved in a decision over this? They won't want to be going out on ITV4 instead of ITV1 for an England game...

3pm tomorrow apparently?

They could air a re-run at 8pm after En Fm!

it would certainly help ITV from the Emmerdale POV. However I cant help but feel it would mean less value for money from the game.

Not sure it'll even be played tomorrow.

As Fudd says, 15th June, the 5-6pm hour.

And for all those suggesting Emmerdale should be moved about, that isn't really an option. It would be an absolute nightmare for the production team to add or remove 2 hours of their schedule tomorrow, which will be very busy and planned to the minute, at less than 24 hours notice.”

Exactly. ITV wouldn't not broadcast the game live (we're not Australian after all!) but I think ITV4 might be the best option - and would be interesting ratings wise. It sounds like though it probably wouldn't go ahead tomorrow - and I get the feeling if it does it'll be earlier in the day. Never mind Emmerdale - Loose Women may be ditched.

They'll learn their lesson though!

ITV will unleash an almighty shitstorm if they aren't in Warsaw at 7.45pm tomorrow, on ITV1.”

Enjoy your ITV bashing with the benefit of hindsight don't you. ITV of course are fully responsible for the roof not being closed, the stadium having no ground staff and it pissing down in Poland. Obviously events are never delayed on the BBC.

A hour of highlights, cancelling the easily-rescheduled Mr & Mrs and avoiding any scheduling issues with DCI Banks.

Apparently it has to be.

If it's moved to 3pm that's actually a bigger headache overall for most people behind the scenes (advertisers, ITV execs, FIFA are all going to have to re-negotiate some payments) but I do feel sometimes you have to put the public first. A one-off live episode of one of the country's most popular programmes has been promised to the public for 7pm tomorrow. If they can't make that happen, then they've been truly screwed over in this contract with FIFA.

I believe the rights deal is between ITV and the Polish Football Association, not FIFA.

ITV won't show a World Cup Qualifier on their fourth channel. A friendly on ITV4 would even be unlikely, a qualifier would be a certain no-no. Whenever it's played, it'll be on ITV1.

Personally, I don't think they'll agree to play the game tomorrow. It'll be in June, I think.

At least it would not be on 11am like that World Cup in Korea/Japan.

Any lost ad revenue from a 3pm kick-off though is kind of balanced out by the revenue from the non-match tonight.

If it goes at 3pm that works for ITV1 quite well in scheduling terms, and then they can stick highlights at 10.35pm on ITV1 and perhaps 8pm on ITV4.

I was thinking that too. Live match in the afternoon with an hour long highlight show after Emmerdale.

I'll be outraged if Mr & Mrs is cancelled.

Regardless of what happens with Emmerdale, this does raise interesting questions about which contracts take precedence over others in this kind of scenario.

Anti-ITV folks lead by Robbie are just trying to whip up a 'lets criticise ITV for every possible situation'.

People seem to think that every other channel around the world just shows filler every night, even if it was on Sky, they may have trouble fitting the match in without knocking off some other live sport they have scheduled.

No confirmation from FIFA over re-arranged game.

Poland disputing game to be played tomorrow. Announcement, you'd imagine tonight

Problem solved.

Emmerdale can go ahead as planned, Mr & Mrs goes out & DCI Banks.
