I reckon highlights at 8pm are tied on, as ITV won't be happy with daytime audience figures for an England match.

normally I am sure ITV would have something to say about lost advertising revenue, however in this unique sitution, they will breath a sigh of relief.

As for what the rest of the world can cancel to make room for the football, im guessing it isnt a live episode of a long running TV show, which needs to be aired that day.

Doc Martin to air 21.10 to 22.10, according to Sky EPG.

Luckily you could always watch it on ITV1+1! I bet though the ratings for tonights non-match will be higher than the ratings for the actual match tomorrow.

P.S. I think ESPN will be kicking themselves tonight for giving Belgium v Scotland (which BBC Scotland are showing anyway) live coverage from 7.45pm then delaying coverage of Spain v France until 10pm - had they aired it live at 8pm I think they'd have got some good figures.

Why didn't they go for Piers Morgan chatting to a footballer? At least that would appeal to a few football fans.

Can't even remember what ITV showed in the slot before the 8.30pm Corrie was introduced. I know traditionally World in Action aired on Mondays and possibly The Cook Report - and I vaguely remember The Upper Hand and presumably other comedies at 8.30pm on Mondays (with Brittas Empire/2 Point 4 Children etc. over on the BBC) - but all were long gone by 1999.

Another show hurt by C4 scheduling. Jay Hunt and David Abraham really are pushing the case for privatising C4 with their efforts as the fact they've not been sacked is ridiculous. If C4 was a private company there is no way they'd still be in their jobs.

PREDICTION GAME

If anyone wants to change their predictions for the Tuesday programmes on the prediction the game they may. The football has been voided.

He's interviewed Gazza in a previous series, hasn't he?

Or maybe ITV should have shown Monroe again, seeing as how nobody watched it last night.

Yes, the Gazza one would have done well. Or in advance of the new series putting a repeat of DCI Banks in the slot, though I guess they might all be two parters.

Surely even something as lazy as Police, Camera, Action would suit the demos hovering around more - or as the story is still very much in the news a repeat of the Jimmy Saville documentary, though I guess that might be inappropriate to show at a time people won't be expecting it.

The football is being played at 1600 BST tomorrow. Should make for an interesting day for ratings.

Regarding football highlights, could ITV leave ITV1 how it is at 8pm and instead show the match 'as live' on ITV4 from 7.30pm? Motorway Patrol and The British Superbikes Highlights could replace The Magnificent Seven! on Thursday night.

I doubt there will be any audience for a full prime time rerun on any channel.

Two things, one it's only a qualifier, secondly, 4pm is only on the edge of the working day, not in the middle of it, plus it's on at 5pm on ITV1+1.

We need a rain ratings chart - Grand Prix, Football, Test Cricket, Wimbledon. Indeed apart from the soaps the hour of rain could end up being ITV1's highest rating weeknight programme this week.

Possible - I think they'll leave Mr & Mrs and put highlights at 10.35pm, with either a replay or highlights on ITV4 at 8pm.

I think it would rate better than the current ITV4 schedule. It depends how we do, though - a strong win would have people wanting to watch the replay. A bad defeat...
