I'd put tomorrow's 5pm episode of The Chase at 8pm, might do better than Mr and Mrs.

Close, but I think they'll look to finish the football coverage at 6.10 for the local news and both that and the international news will run for 25 minutes instead of the usual 30.

0.6 is quite good for ITV2. It also won the 10pm slot in multi channels so it's not a flop..

Wonder if TGBBO will receive a boost from the football not going ahead, I imagine it would broken the 6m barrier anyway but nevertheless it should do very well.

It looks like generally ITV1 chucked current affairs against the Monday EE. This has changed recently to factual entertainment with POG, Cornwall with Caroline Quentin etc, while Tonight is put against Thursday's EE. This is presumably a tactical change on ITV's part, maybe because audiences are higher on Mondays(?) and it's more profitable to put popular programmes on that day than Thursday? Just a thought.

I think Bake Off will get a boost (although I'm not confident enough to change my prediction in the game ); it's not like when The X Factor was delayed going to air, when people were in little doubt that normal service would eventually be resumed; tonight it was clear that the football wasn't going to start any time soon, so some may have strayed to BBC2.

Its hard to tell whether there will be any shift to Bake Off from the football as they seem such different audiences that there shouldn't be much change. However so many people from such a diverse group seem to be now addicted to Bake Off its hard to tell. Regardless I don't see how it can be safeguarded by BBC2, its a populist show for all sorts of people and BBC One will want it.

I'm expecting an announcement in the near future. I can't see it not happening.

Thanks for the heads-up; it's worth bearing in mind tomorrow that BBC1 Scotland showed football tonight and opted out of The Paradise (relegating it to BBC2 Scotland). This will slightly boost the reported overnight for The Paradise and possibly Ian Hislop's BBC2 show as well.

BBC Scotland also bumped EE over to BBC2; what effect that will have on its figures depends on whether its usual BBC1 share in Scotland is as high as the local football achieved tonight (probably not, I reckon - so the overnight for EE could also be inflated.)

Some small adjustments in the US, Revolution dropped to a 3.3 but still won its slot my a mile, 2 Broke Girls shifted to a 3.4, and Hawaii 5-0 went up to a 2.1, which is odd seeing as both were preemted by football, the baseball on FOX settled at a 1.6. There was some change in total viewers as well with The Voice breaking 13 million, and the MLB at 5.58m

If it ain't broke, why fix it? Last week both Holby and Bake Off got 5m+ overnight audiences, which means either they don't have much crossover or (more likely) the crossover audience used same-day timeshift to watch both.

There can't be many people who are unaware of Bake Off - it was even on Loose Women today - so BBC1 would only give it a little boost and gain a biggish-hitter, while BBC2 would lose a massive-hitter.

We have seen time and time again that when there are big differences in figures when shows are moved between BBC1 and BBC2.

Bake Off could become a massive hit if it moved to BBC1, I think they should give it a chance to see. It will be a big loss to BBC2 but ratings aren't half as important to BBC2 than they are to BBC1.

If ITV have any sense the schedule tomorrow will be;

I really hope not. It's found its niche on BBC Two and I wouldn't want the show to become ratings-fixated instead of losing the focus about what makes it so good.

In terms of moving up to BBC1, there was a big boost for Ground Force (which achieved 9-11m when it was promoted to BBC1 for its second series in 1998), less so with Have I Got News for You and QI, the latter of which of course moved back) but is there much upward capacity for Bake Off, given the incredible publicity it's already had?

I wonder how GBBO will do tonight? I watched it tonight properly for the first time and quite enjoyed it! So I hope it does at least 6 million.

Anyways, let's discuss something new. Series 3 of Miranda is starting soon, how well do you guys think it will do? The repeats have gotten 4 million and her popularity has really exploded recently, so I'm predicting 5 million, but I would be really pleased with anything above 6 million! I love the show! Make your predictions!

I think that BBC One would perhaps tinker with the show rather than just simply run another series, and it would maybe return in a bolder shape and colour for a main channel. At the moment it has a countryside charm on BBC2 that is unconcerned with ratings but that may change if it were to loose its tuesday evening slot that it has flourished in. But it rates higher than many of BBC One's long running popular programmes now and so they must have their eyes on this fresh cake! However the promotion of sleepy Countryfile worked wonders on a show about sheep and hills so who knows what they could do with sponges!

You say this but previous evidence shows most shows of this ilk experience a massive jump when they move to BBC1. The Apprentice is one good example - that was getting not much less than GBBO towards the end of its second series. Yet look how well it did beyond that, achieving figures it would never have attracted had it remained on BBC2.

There is still, I believe, that fixed perception in many viewers' minds about what BBC2 is. A show like this, whilst still very popular where it is now, has great potential to be even bigger on BBC1 IMO. Twitter/word of mouth has had a big role to play in GBBO's success I think but there are still a great number of people who will have missed it simply because of the channel it's on.

I'm not too sentimental when it comes to arguments like 'robbing' BBC2 of its hits. BBC1 is meant to be home of big, popular, mass entertainment hits and BBC2 needs to remain distinctive from that.

You're being way too conservative in your prediction.

On one hand I'm not sure how it will work - even Effy and Cook seem like ages ago - Cassie was last on screens in 2008 and IIRC a lot of their stories seemed fairly final but I guess they're picking up years into the future to get around that. But I know I'll definitely tune in anyway and given the right promo it might attract some nostalgic viewers. Looking forward to it.

I never watched series 5 and to be honest I don't really know why I didn't. I loved the reinvention in series 3 which is my favourite of the lot (and the only one to actually build in ratings through the run). But maybe it was the fact that they had the continuity through Effy that helped the transition? For whatever reason I just couldn't get invested in a third group. Plus, series 4 got a bit odd towards the end.

It'll be a tough show for E4 to replace.
