Does anyone else have an opinion on how Miranda Series 3 will perform?

The existence of the live behind the scenes feed of Emmerdale might have to be factored into the ratings. A lot of folk seem to have been watching that to see actors bumping into each other and where the boom mikes were located!

It was also more unpredictable than this supposedly 'shocking' death storytline - shocking largely for how even casual viewers will have sussed it out days ago.

Shame they successfully kept a big story spoiler free and that - for once - this was utterly pointess because of poor plotting around it. That plotting was as subtle as a brick.

The live ep was - though - all done very well technically as there were lots of unrelated scenes. And as an event - well promoted on ITV programmes and the teatime news - will likely get 7 - 8 million viewers.

So well done on that score. And a few nice touches such as the baby naming which brought a tear to my eyes,

Yes I think it will work better in a pre-watershed slot. Although for all the criticism of the spin-off, on reflection I felt the last series of YA was far superior to the most recent series of The Apprentice which really needs to sort itself out for next year.

Thanks for the round-up Neil, not seen a roundup that detailed in a long time. I haven't seen a rating for The Chase (daytime, and including +1) that high for a long time. If you don't mind me asking, how much did it get without +1?

How is 1.07m a "nice rating" for Hollyoaks. That's still very much at the lower end of what is should be getting, even if it is at the upper end of what it's been getting lately.

like you said because its better than what its been getting recently, it does need that period of time, when its ratings improve, but are not yet where they should be.

No problem - I enjoy it when I'm in the mood. D.M.N.'s busy at Uni I think.

I got the rating for The Chase from Screenwatch - they only gave the +1-included figure and it wasn't reported elsewhere.

I forgot to include in my round-up MediaGuardian, which had a rating for Channel 5's Serial Killing Saviour: Born to Kill? (1.0 million/3.9%) at 20:00 and a share for BBC1's 22:35 doc, Freddie Mercury: the Great Pretender (25.8%).

I'm here, I'm just getting increasingly frustrated with some users around here failing to use manners and also there being an 'expectation' that the roundup is posted by XX:XX.

Chances are, if the roundup has not been posted by me by say 17:00 then that means I haven't had time to do it therefore "can someone else do it". This being a ratings thread, it is frustrating when other users haven't combined all the ratings into one post. I mean, that has been the purpose of this thread for the past 5 years, not only to discuss ratings, but also to make it easier for others who are looking for other ratings?

It doesn't all need to be left to one or two users, I don't have any "special powers" to post the ratings, all the sources in the posts are free, so I'm not sure what the difficulty is.

I don't mean to moan but it is kind of frustrating. I don't mind doing round-ups if I'm free, but on Tuesdays and Thursdays don't expect a round-up from me until late (hence why it is easier for another user to post).

PS, this is not directed towards you NeilVW, because you've done a great job with the round-ups as of late.

It's contained within a round-up, coming shortly. Note that it won't include +1, and there is a question over the average +1 figure.

Agreed, this is one thing the BBC is good at and still shows how many people like Queen and Freddie Mercury. 2.98 million at 10.35 is excellent.

The channels remain available on 50-54 until you perform a retune (or at least, they should, unless it's another transmitter issue). I left my retune until this evening without any such issues. Indeed, I didn't bother with the Sept. retune for Dave/Yesterday until today, and have been quite happily accessing Dave on LCN 19 even though it swapped with Yesterday (19 <--> 12) in September.

And there have been on-screen announcements on the BBC HD channels about BBC one HD and BBC HD channels moving (although the announcement did not explicitly state that a retune was needed)

WEEKEND COMEDY BBC 2

This is becoming a good rating format

19:00 - Fawlty Towers: 1.57m (6.2%)

I wonder of its about time we get to see One Foot in the Grave etc in the slot.

Interestingly RTE in Ireland show Hi-De-Hi at 1 PM in the afternoons. Is it time BBC start to make the most of their excellent archive of sitcoms, something that they have hidden away from doing as much as they used to a few years back.

I don't watch BBC HD that often, Top Gear, Coast, Nature shows in the main....but I haven't seen any announcements. Channel 50 had Marketplace, then 55 Argos TV, 51-54 were black. I am in the Granada region, not sure when my last retune was, but was 2012 I would say......Let's see how ratings are tomorrow....

CBS Orders New Reality Series 'Bake Off'
Quote:
“THE BRITISH SENSATION, “BAKE OFF,” COMES TO AMERICA

CBS Orders New Reality Series Based on the Hit UK Format

That is Also Sweeping Europe and Other International Territories

CBS has ordered a new alternative series, BAKE OFF (working title), based on the hit UK format “The Great British Bake Off” for broadcast next year.

The series will feature skilled amateur Americans competing in baking challenges with one ultimately being crowned the winner.

“The Great British Bake Off” has become a ratings sensation in the UK. The third season finale, which aired last night (Oct. 16), was one of the highest-rated BBC2 originated shows in the last six years, earning a 25.3% share among British viewers, a series high.

The format is also sweeping Europe and other international territories, delivering big ratings on DR-1 in Denmark and on TV4 in Sweden, where it ranks as the highest rated show in the channel’s history. The series is also entertaining audiences in Belgium and Poland and has been sold in Australia, Ireland, Norway and France.

The executive producer of “Bake Off” is Richard McKerrow and the series is produced by Love Productions USA.”

No surprise that Bake Off has gone to a US network but surprised it was CBS, would have thought it would have been FOX or NBC on the broadcast or Bravo or Food Network on the cable side. I imagine it'll be a summer or midseason offering between seasons of Survivor and/or The Amazing Race.

I'm surprised Warner Bros has never considered adapting New Tricks for a US remake although most of the big oldies are already in shows and I imagine while it would rate highly, it would skew very old!
