iPod and Mini for Data
Hi, I know the iPod doesn't show up as a removable drive on a Windows PC but what about the iPod Mini?
Also, how would you save data other than Music on both? I heard that you have to 'activate' it for data. If it's activated, would it then show up as a removable drive on my PC? What about on my friends' PC's? I swap software and files as well as music with friends and it would be useful if I didn't HAVE to install the iTunes software on every PC that I use either of the iPod's on. Cheers.

Hello Seven,
The iPod does show as a removable hard drive on Windows. In iTunes you have to go into iPod options and 'enable iPod for disk use' Job done. Dan |

So that's for both the iPod and the iPod Mini, and my friend won't need any software or drivers installed for the iPod? (He's got Windows XP - USB removable hard drives' Driver's are installed by Windows XP when it's connected for the first time, no Driver CD needed).
I'll need to get Windows XP for both the iPods to work right? (I've got Windows ME at the mo). So you've got an iPod then? Or are you a fan of the iPod? The prob is you can't drag and drop Mp3's in Windows Explorer, you'd have to use iTunes or it wouldn't playback the Mp3's. On-the-fly Playlistig's good tho, no need for the PC to make Playlists. |
