It's widely reported that Sky don't offer the 12 month upfront payment now but evidently it depends who you speak to in Sky Customer Services.
Buried in the "offers" smallprint of Sky's website I found the following:

Up front Line rental offer: Available to new and existing customers taking Sky Broadband, Talk and Line rental. Line rental is charged as an upfront cost of £119.40 for the entire 12 months. Equivalent to £9.95 per month – a saving of £54.60 over 12 months. Standard monthly price £14.50. After the 12 months has ended, you will automatically be moved on to the standard monthly price, unless you specify otherwise. Offer ends 29 June 2013.

My upfront line rental expires in a few months and I've just received a letter notifying that the price will change to £14.50 per month on expiry of the 12 month period.
There is no reference in the letter to being able to pay upfront again.

Sky also refer to the availability of upfront line rental elsewhere in the smallprint of their website, to qualify that they are cheaper than BT; but they do seem reluctant to highlight its availability and 10 months on from the trouble I had ordering it, others are reporting similar experiences through lack of knowledge and/or confusion about its availability in Sky call centres.

For those who are currently on upfront line rental at £9.95 per month (equivalent), Sky are effectively notifying an increase of £4.55 per month; yet, apparently seem sufficiently unconcerned by potential customer reaction, to express whether/that upfront line rental is renewable.

2 months after adding Fibre, I am apparently free to transfer both broadband (as it's a connected service) and line rental penalty-free to another provider and am seriously considering opening up BT Vision as an option in my household, by transferring line rental & broadband to BT, given that they will be offering discounted YouView boxes & potentially cheaper access to their forthcoming sports channel.

And, as I have said to you (several times!) before, I only regard a bundle as sensible if I actually want ALL of it! There is NO penalty with Sky for not wanting to take their phone service (or their broadband even).

For VM it is not just extra monthly cost BUT also significant initial installation costs (which are waived for their preferred bundles) in not wanting to do it EXACTLY as they want!
If you want a bundle then isn't it obvious you'd want all of what's being offered in that particular bundle? As I've said to you before Virgin allow you to build your own bundle and choose exactly what services you want.

Again with the penalty! How can you not consider Sky charging an extra £2.50 for BB if you don't have their TV packages a penalty also? Or when they charged an extra £5 for not taking their phone packages along with their BB??

Have I not got through to you yet my extreme dislike of bundling! Yes all firms do it to to an extent - VM are one of the very worst in my opinion in doing this to an extreme level. "Out of (their chosen) bundle" premiums are often extortionate!

Yes these are again "penalties" by my terms - but not very major ones cost wise so they might still factor into the final choice. MORE IMPORTANTLY, as I regard Sky as mainly a TV provider, there are no penalties for deciding just to have their TV (and phone and or broadband cheaper elsewhere)

I do plan to leave Sky broadband and phone on 1st December due to the price rise in this area so I practice what I think!

If you want to pay upfront at £119.40 look at help http://helpforum.sky.com where people are, with some confusion as you say, STILL being able to order this!

It's not £9.95 a month though! It's £119-odd a year paid in advance, and £0 a month!
