Loved the original X-com games and had this game pre-ordered for a long time. Was just saying to a mate not so long ago that i could do with a game that doesn't require me to sit close to the TV and get too into. This could be perfect for me, sit back on the sofa and play some tactical alien killing.
Multiplayer could be very interesting. |

Im predicting this will be yet another piss poor remake. I cannot think of any remake that was even nearly as good as the original.
You can try it here....kinda http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uQ3B7XPpPmI |

All the ant farm base stuff sounds good. The lead designer grew up on the original aswell and that is always a good thing. Theres loads of decent videos about it aswell with interviews with the team, which personally always gives me a good idea of a remake. Meaning if its going to be a crap remake and they wont capture the original feel of the game or not.
Speedloafter, rose tinted glasses? You'll have to give me an example of a bad remake to go from.

I played the demo and I enjoyed it. I don't give a crap about a 'perfect' remake, as long as the game is enjoyable then I'm a happy man.

I'm a fan of the original and this one, having watched loads of preview videos and interviews, really does seem the closest in spirit to the original. They have a bunch of playthrough stuff listed on their official forums in this thread,

The original Enemy Unknown released in 1994, remains the finest game I have ever played. A title I still regularly fire up on both PC and more recently on the Android Nexus 7 via the DOSBox Turbo App. The latter version being touch screen compliant, which really is a pleasure to observe and use. Highly recommended. Next weeks release has an awful lot to live upto. But if it's half as deep, inventive and emotive as the truly great original? Then I'll be more than satisfied. Being a full on fanboy of the original I am slightly sceptical, but also mildly excited by it's vast potential. But from the promo footage I've seen this looks very promising indeed. We'll see soon enough. |

VPN is explicitly against steam t&c and your account can be frozen.

Defiantly got my eye on this game. I really enjoyed the original on Amiga AGA, a game I discovered only a few years ago but it really hooked me and I'm not usually fan of this type of game.

Steam will not ban for using a VPN. The only reason they will ban for you using a VPN is if you use it to get the game cheaper from another region or sometimes if you constantly switch your VPN location, Steam can lock your account since to Steam it appears like it has been accessed from a number of different countries in a short time span.

The early reviews are in and it is indeed looking very promising..
XCOM EU - Metacritic Although there are apparently some 'minor' frame rate issues on Console. Hopefully patchable. But a very useful 90% score average to date. |

Am worried how it plays using a joypad, these kind of games really need a mousey (like the original)
