Arrow is fast becoming my favourite show. I mean, when it first started, I was very meh about it. It was... OK. I intended to stick it out for a few more episodes, but wasn't impressed. But then, it got good. Then it got better. And by the end of season 1, it became superb.
Now, it's unmissable... in fact, it's the only show I watch live (I usually tape everything else to avoid adverts). I mean, they are juggling a lot of characters and sub-plots, yet seem to know exactly what they are doing, with the possible exception of Laurel. Having the Island storyline match up with the present day storyline was a stroke of genius, in my opinion. I mean, you've got the League of Assassins and Sarah, you've got Malcolm Merlin not being dead, you've got Diggle's search for his brother's killer, and you've got Blood's army of super-soldiers. And you've got where he's getting the serum from.
I'm thrilled they've finally brought Slade into the present day. I knew they had to eventually, as Manu Bennett is a series regular yet has, easily, had the least to do thus far. Now he's another villain the present day team have to face, as well as opening up an awesome storyline on the Island of how he and Oliver had such a massive falling out.
It's a testament to the writing on this show that, as well as all the above, they managed to introduce a Flash origin story and do it justice. How ironic: when DC remains on the small screen, it tends to do very well. When it goes to the big screen, Nolan Batman aside, you're left with a very rushed Justice League prequel thing out in 2 years. Go figure.
