But that's my point. What was the point of making her Dinah if she isn't really Dinah? The name means nothing to most viewers, just the same as the rest of the comic book references in the show. So surely it would have made more sense to have Cassidy play a new character. And then, if they wanted to bring in Canary a little later on, that door is still open.

Just seems a bit pointless, wasting a potentially cool character, just for what is essentially now just a little in-joke/reference for the comic-book fans.

Well, unless they decide to make Sarah Lance turn up as Canary instead.

They probably did not want to introduce too many superheroes at once, I'd expect her to don her costume late in the season or early Season 2.

I just don't see that fitting with the character as she is now. Yeah, she took out that guy in episode 3, and we got that line about her knowing self defence... but when she was attacked in her home and in the prison, she was next to useless.

If they're going for the 'realism' vibe (in so much as you can in a show about someone who can fire multiple Arrows with pinpoint accuracy, whilst wearing a hood!), this Dinah becoming Canary just seems very unlikely indeed. Unless, maybe, they devote an entire episode to a montage.

I hope that Laurel joins Ollie later on and puts on a costume and becomes Black Canary.

Verence, the TV version of the Flash should be available on DVD- I found some of the episodes on VHS.

It's not yet I've been waiting for years for it to come out on R2 (R1 is out though)

IF the Justice League film ever gets made I would think that both Green Arrow and The Flash would appear, although it would probably concentrate on Batman, Superman and Wonderwoman and everyone else would be reduced to extras

Still find it enjoyable viewing, but am finding the move it seems to broadening the characters and entwined relationships is deflecting from the two more interesting elements of establishing the person next on the list and showing how he is gradually encouraged to put right the wrong, like the early episodes. It sometimes seems an afterthought almost, yet is apparently why he became what he is. Also, we need more of his education and extreme training whilst on the island. Maybe a deal of patience is needed and thus will see if this comes to pass.

I am genuinely baffled about how people see Caviezel's wooden monotone as some sort of acting masterclass.

No expression, no change in tone. You can't even tell whether he asking a question or making a statement. Absolute droning monotone.

If I had known you could get away with that 'acting' I would have my own TV show too...

Amell is playing a few layers to his character, maybe not Oscar worthy but no 'bad' enough to draw criticism or stand out in a negative way.

Of course, Bale and Caviezel in POI are also only playing their characters too. Try looking for some "behind the scenes" or other interviews of them and you will see that they are both much more animated than their characters.

Mixed feelings about the latest episode...
Far too much crammed into it and not enough impact on any of the big reveals.

The relationship between Olly & Helen makes sense and could have a Batman/Catwoman vibe.
She needs a costume (as "The Huntress") though. Bike leathers don't cut it. I know they're not going to go with pointy-ear masks and purple/black costumes, but a "Dark Knight" cat-suit type affair would work (and be yummy ).
A crossbow could be used as well, instead of the gun.

I though Barrowman as "smartly dressed man" was okay up until last night. His appearance with Mrs Queen was quite menacing. Then it all went campy with his (spoiler just in case)...

Damn you Barrowman, and your inherent campness!*shakes fist*

The Tommy/Laurel romance is boring me rigid as well. The sooner he turns bad or she turns "super", the better ... if that's what is going to happen. Might not be the case though, but something needs to happen.

Still want to see Thea joing the Arrow clan and discover Olly's secret. Although I'm not sure what she could bring to his mission at the moment, apart from get p*ssed and flirt heavily.

Hopefully this week's episode was a one-off in terms of quality (or lack thereof...)

I liked the episode. I thought Ollie's hooking up with Helena was well handled. I really really miss the old version of the Huntress though, the one where she was the daughter of Batman and Catwoman.

It was a little too much like a soap opera last night with all the emphasis on relationships. The twist with Tommy's fiances puts a new spin on his friendship with Laurel. But I agree with you about Barrowman. Way too camp in his scene last night. And I can't see why all of a sudden he's cutting Tommy off.

Biker Leather is fine by me....she was good The Huntress, the 'Daughters Revenge'.....but she did work out it was Oliver quickly.....unlike the rest of the cast.....Sister next maybe.

JB being the Dad of Tommy {I'm OK with him and Laurel}, was crazy...but could just be, age wise, but still mad.

Boy, the plot's getting complicated. Good episode, but I said aloud during the dinner party scene: "Green Arrow is NOT a lame name!"

Not strictly speaking a spoiler but I'll treat it as one for the benefit of those who haven't seen the episode yet



It was also good to see more flashbacks to the island.

I've been a comics fan for a long time, but I haven't read many of the recent Green Arrow comics (by recent I mean from the 90s onwards). So I'm a little lost with Deathstroke and China White. I still enjoy the show though. I loved the Green Arrow of the 70s and 80s with his liberal agenda and hot temper. I like the show's version of the character too. I find the whole business with the List and who's doing what to whom a little hard to follow. Overall the show is a lot of fun and I'm glad the characters and story have depth to them.

I also really enjoyed the exchange between Oliver and Felcity:
"Merry Christmas."
"I'm Jewish".
".... Happy Hannukah".

Hmmm Tommy said he was nearly 30 in the last episode, so for JB to be his dad, possibly 50 at least? (JB is 45, so just about works)....

Hilarious.....and very silly, the only down {liked the 'arrow' shoot-out} side to a good episode.

really liked this show but last 2 episodes i saw(with his new gf) have been terrible

I am enjoying the show and having not read the comics I can take it as it comes characters wise.

Two things occur to me though:

1) Why does Ollie have more chemistry with his sister than his supposed love of his life? I take it it is not that kind of story and just how the actors react around each other.

2) Am I the only one who would date Felicity ahead of Laurel? She seems far more interesting.
