That's a very good deal, Lumia 800 is an excellent phone. And given the fact WP8 SDK won't be openly available for some time, it will take at least a couple of months till new WP8 only apps will appear anyway.

At least it will still get Windows Phone 7.8, allowing you to at least get the some of the UI enhancements that WP8 brings.

That's just on the MS side too, it seems pretty clear with the Nokia Lumia 510 that Nokia seem intent on continuing to sell WP7 phones and are continuing to innovate e.g. with the Xpress browser. I expect we will continue to see improvements to Nokia Drive, Nokia Transport, Reading, Music and other apps.

I was considering getting a W7 phone for my wife (first smart phone). Will they still be getting support in 2 years time or will MS abandon them before then? Will future apps still be compatible?
I'm not usually this cautious, but, guess who'll get the blame?.......Well not Microsoft, that's for sure!!

I've had a Lumia 800 since day one and I've got to say there is little I can find fault with.
That price is bonkers, can't see there being much stock left in a week or so. |

However, it will take awhile before new 'WP8 only apps' become available and Nokia has showed commitment to keep developing and updating apps for its WP7 phones (such as Nokia Drive etc.) |

Im sure they will show the same bad attitude to Windows Phone 7.X users. Let the buyer beware! |

I purchased a Lumia 800 from Amazon.
I was disappointed with the low quality loud-speaker, lack (and cost) of decent apps, the poor battery life and no front facing camera, which is why I sold it and went back to my iPhone 4. I was impressed with the handset's design and screen quality. |
