I think Victoria's probably used to accepting advice y'know. She didn't achieve what she has by ignoring coaching.

Heels are a bugger - nuff said.

I found Darcey to be a great judge tonight.
I really liked the way that she gave constructive advice to the contestants.
Both my husband and I were yelling at the screen "stop saying yes",but I do think it was just nerves.
She is infinitely more qualified than the other one,
I would like to add, annoyance at Ms Bussells "yah" tic is because it is annoying, not some kind of inverse snobbery.

Agreed. I was looking forward to her being a judge instead of having to put up with Aleesha's dreadful "street" talk, but she's even more annoying! Hopefully the producers will have a word and get her to stop it before it turns us all off

I have yet to try out 3 inch heels too.

she is a good judge very constructive - dont understand what she said about imagining someone pulling ur shoulders down but apart from that she was ok. too many yeahs which really dumb her down.

I suppose 'yah' as a filler is better than 'you know what i mean'.

I concur that it is a bit annoying, maybe she was nervous too, but saying that I'll take a few 'yah's' with good helpful advice included over the former judge who offered............You smashed it...........?

Can't see Darcy Getting stroppy with the audience either.

They have replaced crass with class.

Maybe it's her own personal 50th Anniversary tribute to The Beatles. 'Yeah, Yeah, Yeah'.

Whatever it is, please stop it now.

I think Darcey's just a bit uncomfortable with public speaking at the moment. She's not as extrovert and confident as the other judges.

I thought she was nervous and am hoping that is why she said yah so many times. It was annoying. However I liked her advice so I will forgive the yahs for now.

Love it. It was the way she used it like some people use innit after every sentence. Yet hers had a question mark after most of them. It came across as very patronising, as if to say "do you understand what I am saying".

OK, I am finally going to say it. Arlene, come back!!!!!!!!!

I really hope it's nerves, because the 'yah?' at the end of virtually every statement was irratating. I don't think I could cope with that for the rest of the series. For me, it detracted from what she was saying because I was just sitting there waiting for it

I agree. She was giving constructive advice to the dancers, but her ridiculous vocal tic made her virtually unlistenable.

Gordon Ramsey also does this 'yeah' thing when giving feedback on his shows, as does that blonde female chef Lesley Waters, and it drives me nuts from them, too.

Pretty much what I was going to put - I can't believe that people can be so harsh about someone of Darcy's achievements all because she says 'yah'; she's not sitting there effing and blinding and coming out with comments that are unnecessarily caustic.

I, for one, feel really pleased she agreed to be on the panel and she probably knows more about dancing than the rest of us put together.

Hmph.

It's bad and spoiling the show thankfully they were running out of time and missed her out on a few occasions. Hope te BBC have a word with her yah?

I have no problem whatsoever with her accent, but constantly puctuating your speech with redundancies is not being 'well spoken' and it is very irritating.

Nothing to do with the social class of the speaker - or the listener.

She is/was a BALLET dancer. It is a totally different discipline. It's like asking someone who is a classically trained French Chef to critique people cooking Chinese.

The point is she has the most irritating vocal tick of any judge I have even seen INCLUDING Alesha - and boy, that is saying something! I am glad you are enjoying her contribution. I find her irritating to the point where I am going to turn the volume down when she is featured. It really is that bad!!!!!!

I really enjoyed her being a judge.

I was impressed the way she gave constructive comments about the dancers, never knocking them and letting it get personal.

Yes, think she did well.

Agree with this completely. The accent didn't bother me a bit, the constant 'yes/yah' did. I know someone else who does the same and it is incredibly annoying having a conversation with him.

Agreed. I used to teach and if students nodded a 'yes, I understand' but their face still held a smidgen of confusion, to give them a chance to ask again, I'd say 'okay?' as a question which is how I heard Darcy's 'yah'.

Thankfully, I have a thicker skin than some on here and more things to become irritated about than that.

I would have thought that SCD isn't at her level but she did agree to appear, for charity, on an edition of Vicar of Dibley and she did well on that. She comes across as a very nice person and Britain could do with more celebrities like her.

i agree with the comments her dancing was excellent when she was a dancer but her speaking needs some work. May have to watch strictly on catch up so I can fast forward and miss out all the Yah Yes Okay rubbish!

I'm hoping it was just nerves but if she keeps on saying 'yah' I'm going to have to mute her like I do Brucie.

Nonsense - the only thing that differs between French and Chinese cooking will be the ingredients.

When you study dance, you will study all variations of dance and she chose to go the ballet route - she will still have more knowledge in her head about what is required to be good at dancing than most people who have never made it any further than the local church hall.

Quote:
“ I find her irritating to the point where I am going to turn the volume down when she is featured. It really is that bad!!!!!!”

Then you will be doing something constructive about something that is irritating you - my focus tends to be more on what she says about the dance routine and the ability of the dancers.
