Morning everyone! Congratulations on the new thread! Nothing particularly constructive to add but I thought I'd say hello on my way through.

Hello shiny new thread, I was beginning to think you'd never arrive!


IMO it's easy to understand. They knew everyone had a certain number of episodes they had to appear in and they honoured that... by making sure the people they had no interest in (it wasn't just Chryed who suffered at the hands of BK & Co) were given the required number of episodes - with as little screentime as possible.

If BK & Co liked you you had maximum screen time to tell your story. If they didn't like you it was 40 seconds (or less) then you vanished into thin air for weeks, (or months in some cases), at a time for no reason.

This is off topic but I think it gives credence to our belief that Chryed's exit storyline was planned/penned during the last Kirkwood/Beed days. Kathleen Beed tweeted this about Lola's heartbreak last night (wasn't Danielle Harold outstanding?)

I still think Syed was leaving on his own but at some point changes were made to the storyline.

I'm still hoping the new team completely changed the exit once BK was out the way and they knew Johnny was going too

Interesting info from KB surreal....doesn't surprise me though, DTW has got BK written all over him! And I agree that Syed was originally leaving by himself. My guess is that Syed and DTW were originally going to have a proper affair but then TPTB realised how ridiculous it would be, and with Johnny wanting to concentrate on other projects, they decided to change it and give Chryed their happy ending?

I'm imagining how awful it would have been if Syed had left by himself, or worse, with DTW, thank goodness we were at least saved that!

So.............Chryed's exit (the final product as it were) was planned by them? I remember that interview with Scott and Rita (after one of the awards) when he said that Newman needed to honour the storylines that had already been planned? But maybe she has tweaked some of them, like Chryed's and Kat's...........

I suppose it would depend on when JP decided to leave? If it were at the same time as Marc, then presumably the story is as it is. If not, the outcome must have been rejigged, I guess.

Yes, those are my thoughts as well. Bringing Danny into the picture would have made sense last year, especially when Christian was desperately wanting to adopt and Syed's relationship with his family was in the very early stages of healing.

It's such a shame cos now we're never going to properly know how LN would have fared with Chryed I think she would have done amazing things with them! We'll never know now though

Very true, and if we were ever given any insight to how Syed had got to this point, when, as Christian said, he has everything he ever wanted.
Maybe that's it. He feels he doesn't deserve to be happy and has gone into self destruct.

Saw the end of last nights ep, I can't stand Lola and I hate Billy and I couldn't really care less about Lola and her kid but Danielle was really good. Reminded me of Stacey's sectioning, although that affected me a lot more as I loved Stacey.

I will forever be bitter about how appallingly BK treated Chryed. Maybe LN would have treated them better, we'll never know. But tbh I'm glad they left when they did. I don't think Chryed would ever have got the screen time and stories they deserved.

Ok there's been to many references to Danny and Syed's kiss being 'passionate' /has a sinking feeling in my stomach that it will not be a blink and miss kiss like many of Chryed's/ cut short by the duff duff, or that we will get dodgy lightening and bad camera angles i.e. seeing the back of Syed head which tends to happen in much of Chryed kisses Silver lining I guess that if the above happens that Chryed helped contribute to treating gay kisses more equally in soaps and I think that GL said that there will not be tongues therefore it may not be as 'passionate' as the mags imply /tells myself spoilers usually exaggerate .

It's also been referred to as a grope which sounds like the least romantic thing ever!

And you just have to remember, the next ep, Syed is punching him! So the kiss means nothing, other than Syed's minds all frazzled and he makes a mistake. But he loves Christian

For Syed to punch someone he must be really angry, angry at himself but also thinking Danny might insult Christian and that would make Syed lose it, he can't stand anyone insulting his man!

Also, this may be a unpopular opinion but Stacey really annoyed me (although I did like her in the beginning). I just think she was slightly overrated, she is a great actress but I just felt that she received some (not all mind) of her awards out of habit voting i.e like Alfie and Kat with best actor/ actress when sometimes other people deserved it more but oh well that's the nature of soap voting .

Please don't throw rocks at me, it's just an opinion
