Just found out that he's also written a novel. Haven't read that, but his autobiography is brilliant, giving a diary account of the incredible workload faced by actors in the Eastenders machine and the gradual breakdown in his working relationship with Wendy Richard. It's both fascinating and moving (he feels in some sympathy with Richard over the pressure the producers put her under). Very much recommended.
