Yep I definitely think so, there's no way she was the best performance of the night. It was probably to help encourage her.

I never said weird... and I knda though it was the adults who were clapping.. ( which I do think a little strange)I of course think its great that the kids are enjoying it... mine are too

It is only my opinion so please dont take it personally.
No, you said you found it 'strange', which is weird in itself. Why should you care what other people do in the privacy of their houses? To have an opinion of the dancing is fine, whether it differs from another forum member or not. But it is not fine to sneer at another poster - it's a tad difficult not to take such remarks personally when they are, in fact, personal.

And, incidentally, I clapped Lisa and Robin's hugely confident and entertaining dance and was alone in the room at the time. Nothing strange about me....

Lisa got high marks for being gaymazing, which has long been a neglected judging criteria on this show.

I clapped as well. But I can up your 'weirdness' **, I even bopped about in my chair with the music.

Yay for happy clappers

It was entertaining, yes. I liked that it was comedic but with great dancing too.

But it most definitely was not an 8, not from Craig. It wouldn't have been in previous years, and it's certainly not now that the marking criteria are stricter.

She was good, but an 8 from Craig on week 1 is a disgrace. That was never an eight.

No it was because she was brilliant. We were all clapping at the end in this house.
And the weight jibes are already boring!
Her foot movement was better than the superfit and slimmer ladies that have gone before her.
No. It's because it WAS good, best chacha of the night, irrespective of her weight. She had clean lines, lots of bounce, full of energy, and they took risks.

Because she is a larger lass, it was even more impressive, and yes, there will be things she'll struggle with - everyone struggles with something. But still best dance of the night.
I dont think so... she was great, had rythym and moved well.

Marks were high thou!

I could have multiquoted many more posts, but only so many are allowed.

In this house Lisa was considered a revelation!! We didn't see that fun, confident, performance coming at all. Well done Lisa. I hope you go far in the competition.

I think the judges went a bit OTT but the performance had real impact.

It wasn't the best cha cha, Kimberley was better. And Sid & Ola's waltz was a better dance as well - he had far more technique than she did.

It wasn't rubbish, but it was nowhere near an 8. 24 would have been generous, 30 is ludicrous.

Er, she got good marks because she can dance, I have been very skinny and overweight (perhaps not to that extent though) but as I said to my kids and husband I cant dance skinny or fat. She was totally fab!

I live alone and I was standing up clapping at the end of her performance. I really never expected her to be so good, she truly embodied what the cha-cha is all about, fun, entertaining and fast. Her footwork was terrific, loved it. She deserved the good marks.

I wonder how she will get on with the rumba.....

I'd probably agree with you if it were all about technique - but it isn't. A dance has to entertain as well, whether that's the sweetness of the story-telling in Sid & Ola's waltz, or the sheer exuberance in Lisa & Robin's cha-cha. I'm no expert, but I think Richard's technique was better than Sid's, although I'd have marked Sid's higher for the artistic interpretation (if such a thing were separately marked), just as I would mark Lisa's higher than Kimberley even though her technique was not as good. Erm, hope that makes sense.

Must have been. No way was that worth the marks it got!

Lisa was good but not an 8 in the first week . I felt there was indeed some compensation for her weight . Disappointed with Craig and Darcey.

I loved her. Such infectious enthusiasm, confidence AND ability. I was amazed by how good she was on her own. Most celebs struggle with being out of hold, especially week one. All that said, she was overmarked by Craig.

Lisa blew me away! She was totally fearless. Danced with no inhibitions. Really brought the show alive.

But don't patronise her with 8's Craig. A 6 would have been fine (and fair).

That said, I'm quite into Lisa & Robin as a couple now (wasn't so sure beforehand). But they do embody what this show is about - Saturday night entertainment. I'd prefer to watch them than an overly serious couple (who might be technically better).

Of course the ideal couple would be good dancers and be entertaining - the only pair to tick both boxes for me so far is Colin & Kristina.

Spot the sour grapes from the sourpusses who pre-judged....

Well I thought she was great. She was technically good and she PERFORMED the whole thing up a storm.

I smiled throughout - it was the most enjoyable dance for a good few years as far as I'm concerned - I was totally delighted by her.

Well done her and well done Robin for such an audacious first dance.

No, its because she has rhythm and can dance. She has attitude and confidence AND she looks like she's enjoying herself, so we do too.

Lisa danced the most entertaining dance of the week. I guess they gave points for that.
