Victoria showed real glimpses of talent as long as she gets the moves (in the right order!). I really ope she can get it right and that she gets a few weeks to prove her potential.

I am so rooting for her to absolutely smash it with her ballroom next week, I think more strict rules and being in hold will suit her better than the looser Latin dances. I hope she shoots up the table

Exactly, she was looking good until the first mess-up

Fingers crossed she nails it next week and makes the haters look stupid in the process

I thought so too, Brendan seems to really believe in her, so it probably was down to not knowing how to cope after making the early mistake. At least she kept going. It all depends on whether she can manage to get through the routine next time after this experience. If she does, it should get easier for her to deal with the live shows - so I hope she gets the chance:

A bit of perspective - she was tearful/cried after she totally messed up her first, and at that stage, her only dance, just when it mattered.

She has cried just once.

So at this stage it is wrong for anyone to point to her as a blubbing princess (or words to that effect).

I think I will vote for her for a few weeks even if she isn't getting anywhere but after a month or so I think I, and most other people, will get realistic and not vote fro her if she really isn't showing any signs of becoming a dancer.”

She forgot more than two thirds of the dance and just stumbled around. I thought 16/17 was a massive kindness. Single figures would've been fair.

Unfortunately, all we know about Victoria from her interviews is that she cries a lot and complains about sexism, that everything is too hard for her, that her coaches are mean and nasty, and that she needs people to deal with her SENSITIVELY. It's understandable that she would be upset after messing up her dance, but the problem is that it cements everything we've read about her being constantly upset and whiny.

Absolutely. I defy anyone to stick it through three quarters of an hour of her interview. It's no wonder people if people don't want to work with her anymore as nobody seems to escape it. http://www.bbc.co.uk/podcasts/series/victoriad

Perhaps you speak for yourself and a few others who might have made up their minds, but not necessarily everyone.

No... no. I haven't made up my mind. This is not a choice I've made or an opinion I have. This is what Victoria has said. Perhaps you've seen an interview that didn't involve her talking about how she cries all the time and is too emotional to be dealt with in the same way as everyone else, but I haven't. And those are her own words.

Sorry, I don't agree. She made an early mistake and didn't have the experience to know how to deal with that with the result that several more mistakes followed. However, her routine had a lot more content than say Jerry, Nicky, Fern. Fern made several mistakes as well in a much easier routine and Nicky's posture was dreadful not to mention the illegal lift. On this basis, she shoud have placed higher than those above her. I expect she will do better next week and will be in a higher leaderboard position when it goes to the public vote.

Read her book and you will see someone very different to the one you portray.

Knowing what I know about British Cycling, not just from Victoria, her views are entirely justified. If anything, she is too fair in some of her criticisms.

The fact that she's an Olympic gold medalist will keep her in (sadly), and don't get me wrong, I like her, but she wasn't the best and I'm not a fan of crying.

mmm, do you think we need a scientific "lachryometer" for Victoria?
The needle goes from one (a bit misty-eyed), five (watching Warhorse or something) to a ten (someone stole teddy)

Here's what the man himself said on Twitter and he knows better than any of us . . . . . (Ive put this on the 'ridiculous heels' thread too

...back stronger next week. The 4 final runs we did before we went live were amazeballs and V was superb...
..I'm so proud of what she can do and the effort she puts in! When you're not a performer a wee mistake can be just enough to throw you...
Btw...heels are not too high! Routine was fast & full of content but that's what I do when I have a great girl

From what I have read, Brendan has faith in her; and that is good enough for me.

Hear, hear. I know a bit about British Cycling and if I had to deal with some of them on a daily basis I'd probably have resorted to physical violence. Speak to most British women cyclists off the record and you'll hear similar stuff.

Back on topic. I'd be surprised if Victoria goes first. I think that she'll do better at Ballroom whereas Richard and Michael will not be that great at Latin. Jerry's personality will probably pull her through for a few weeks yet. My money's on Johnny to go first, I wouldn't be entirely surprised if Victoria moves up the leaderboard several places.

I shouldn't have to pay money in order to discover that she's actually a tolerable person. She should be more aware of the image she's portraying with the interviews that the majority of non-paying customers are going to see.

Perspective is a funny thing, isn't it?

'She cries a lot' - yes, she wears her heart on her sleeve
'Complains about sexism' - and rightly so - what's wrong with that? Do you think sexism is okay?
'Everything's too hard for her' - no, she has never said that. If that were true, she'd have given up, not had the phenomenal worldwide success that she has had.
'Her coaches are mean and nasty' - no, one coach got very upset when he found out about her love affair and it caused a lot of grief within the camp. She has otherwise had nothing but praise for her coaching team.
'She needs people to deal with her sensitively' - the GB cycling team set-up is a tough environment, where women are supposed to act like men. She is, quite rightly, critical of that.
'Constantly upset and whiny' - erm, no.

Are you, perchance, a man?

We'll see how she does next week, there is only way way to go from where she is at the moment, and that is up.

Shes too famous isn't she? Despite how famous Denise Van Outen and Sid Owen are in the UK, Victoria is world famous?

I am hoping she does well next week. I really like her and want to see her dance. I do hope they dial it down in the costume/make up department though. She looked ghastly. Someone elsewhere said she looked liked Mercedes MacQueen. That is never a good look to go for
