I don't think once it comes to public votes that Denise is going to get sufficient support, because many view her as having an unfair advantage, working in musical theatre...be that "sitting on a chair" in Chicago or not!

But I digress! I hdn't really picked up on the body language between Louis and Flavia...I shal have to go and watch it again. But I did really enjoy his routine.

He's another Ricky Whittle, good but dead behind the eyes. Can't get enthused at all, as said it's the wrong pairing.

Their interviews on ITT will be the signal to wash up.

I think if you've trained for 19 years to be disciplined, focused and not to let emotion in to your performance/routine, then it is rather a lot to expect him to just lose that in his first dance, after 4 weeks of training. Give him a break guys.

you couldnt have put it better

and the good thing about it is that because of all that he will come back stronger and stronger, perfecting every little bit more and more and making his way through (if flavia allows)

His chemistry with the italian chick is like watching a robot trying handle a tiger...

If he carries on with those "wax on wax off" dancing arms he's got nae chance! I wouldn't even give him a shot a top 3.i think the final 3 will include any of these - Denise, Sid, kimberly, Lisa and Nicky-from the fan vote

Nonsense - Mark R was never a bundle of laughs but it didn't stop him winning. Similarly Darren Gough - all he could think of in the early days was what his mates would think - before long he couldn't get too many sequins.

Louis might be a little reserved to begin with - but just watch Flavia draw out his fun side.

Mark was wonderful. Such humour and fun dancing behind his eyes. He was reserved, yes. But not emotionless.

It is very subtle though. Louis, at the moment, is dancing the routine the way he would do a gymnastic routine. Clinically. Fantastic for the Olympics but not so good when dancing. I do hope he manages to find some emotional connection to what his body is doing though. I love Flavia and want her to do well.

Bit dead..but also didnt like the "we did well" comment..even Flavia looked embarrassed...the Uk public like humble..he is hiding his competitive streak..but not well enough (and before anyone says anything..I understand he is an olympian and so ofcourse he is more competitive than some)..but he needs to hid that a little and not take himself as seriously if he wants to get votes..good abs will not win the public over for long.

On aanother note..was so,so pleased for Lisa last night..she had put in as the token ft bird and she was fantastic..

You're probably right- he is 'doing' the routine rather than 'feeling' it, if that makes sense... But after 19 years of training to perform like that, I think he did well enough for 4 weeks of training to dance with emotion, rather than holding it all in.

Aww seriously?... How could anyone take anything from that comment in a negative way? He was like a little kid asking 'Did we do well' and Flavia gave him a lovely smile and hug saying 'We did great'.... How could you interpret that as him being competitive and her being embarrassed? It was one of the sweetest moments I have seen from them so far.

I think the bit you are meaning is at 2.20 and I really can't take anything from this that implies what you think it does.

I was so excited to hear Louis was going to be doing Strictly, as I absolutely adored him whilst watching the Olympics, his personality seemed wonderful and cheerful, and I shed a tear when he found out he'd won the silver. Now on Strictly, he just seems like a plank of wood, so disappointing

Agreed!

He was great last night, anyhow. And he is mighty fine!! Darcy has got good taste

I thought so too... For a first dance, he did really well. Especially when he has no experience of performing like that, and has no acting skills in order to bluff his way through a performance.
Yes- Darcy does have good taste!

Having watched this back today, I noticed how he relaxed so much after they had danced, but during the judges comments and the Tess chat, he kept looking at Flavia (for support? Reassurance?) and she just didn't make any eye contact or respond to him. He also kept putting his arm round her, then drawing it back again. She hardly made any physical contact.

I actually think it's Flavia that is more hesitant in the partnership for whatever reason. I really felt for him. She hardly supported him. He'd have been so much better of with Ola, Katya or Natalie... Someone who would really support their partner.

I really worry for him.

Totally agree with you. Usually love Flavia but don't know what her problem is with Louis. She seems pleased to have a contender but as you say, doesn't seem to be giving him the support or reassurance he needs. Very odd.

I think poor Flavia can't win either way: if she were more 'tactile' with Louis, she'd be teased just like Darcey for perving over the young man; and if she retains a little more distance she is seen as cold. I simply think she's quite shy and it is usually her partners who are more flamboyant and outgoing.

As for Louis being accused of being robot-like, I can do nothing but marvel at any of them for having the sheer nerve to get out there in front of millions of people and try to remember a minute and a half of dancing without losing consciousness. I would have the terror face of a zombie at the Day of Doom as I struggled to simultaneously dance while not throwing up or relieving myself in front of the licence-fee paying public.

Louis has long arms and big hands. That's partly why he is so good on the pommel horse.

He just has to shape his hands more and when moving his arms, keep them a bit closer to his body. Might also help to wear black sleeves, but he has great co-ordination and I'm expecting him to be good at everything.

I expect Louis will come out of his shell, smile more and sell the dance. He seems a bit self-conscious doing something he is not comfortable with but when he realises that he is very good at this, I expect he will enjoy it and that will show through.

I was pleased to see him do a bit of freestyling in training and it looked good, so it shows that he does like to dance.

Flavia is the one who is holding back relationship-wise. She just has to resolve whatever her issue is. Louis has been offering contact in the right sort of way, so if Flavia joins the team they will be OK.

I thought they were fine.

Louis reminds me of Ramps. It took him a while to come out of his shell.

Me too CC.
Thought they were relaxed together, just not doing the (in some cases false) "luvvy" all over each other thing.

I can see him getting to the final
