Samsung D500
I'm due an upgrade shortly and I have read in some places that this phone is excellent, it terms of features, picture and audio quality and more. Does anyone out there own one? If so, what do you think of it?
I'm going to upgrade my phone, and a local O2 store is quoting a price of £80 to upgrade, but I'm spending £30/40 a month on my contract so maybe I might get money off the cost of upgrading. Anyone know how O2 work this out? Padzter

I'm looking to move to this phone as well. It sounds excellent. Haven't been able to find it on 02 online though. Not yet anyways.

It is available at the O2 store, but I don't think it's available online until Monday 13th December. It's £49.99 to get with a new contract, or £79.99 to upgrade if you already have a contract. (Which I think is rediculous seeing as Johnny-come-latelys will get it cheaper than those who have already given O2 at least £360 over the last 12 months....)
Still, I've read an online review and it looks like a fantastic little phone, so I hope I get one before Christmas... Padzter

You should never pay for a phone - especially if you are spending over £30 a month on a contract!
Orange have offered me the Samsung D500 in grey with 200 any network minutes and 500 texts for £30 per month and no charge for the phone. Talk to O2 directly and ask what deal you can have or move to another network. I got the above deal by simply asking for it. I didn't threaten to leave or anything. I did actually sign up to a new O2 contract - got the Sony Ericsson S700 for free in the O2 store but I didn't like O2's features (or lack of I should say). Took the phone back today and confirmed acceptance of the above offer with Orange. |

I got this phone for £25 per month with Orange, with the option to reduce the tariff after six months, as usual. The contract gives me 120 minutes of cross network calls per month. The phone was going to cost £49.99, but I called a friend who had an orange account and gave his details as someone who could recommend me as a new customer. Orange credited his account with £25 and mine with £50 - hence a free phone (but you waive your right to the 14 day cooling down period if you subscribe to this). They also credited my account with £50 for trading in an old Orange pre-pay phone. One month free wap trial, free ringtone(?), Orange strap and a funny little flashing led thingy to attach to the strap.
Some points concerning the phone: the large screen is compromised in normal navigation by the tool bar on the left, which you cannot customise. The loudspeaker attachment is a ludicrous and impratical concept. The Samsung download site does not support animated wallpapers or Java games for this phone (yet), if that's important. Menu navigation is not as graphically dynamic as the E800 (but quicker than the 410). And, although the sliding mechanism seems better than the e800, it's still loose enough to make the phone feel flimsy when texting. Otherwise, the phone is fine |
