Maybe it takes them a bit time to get comfortable with each other during live shows. Also, it is sad, how the rumor mill starts to work if there is even a bit of friendlyness or chemistry, it's quite annoying.

I agree. You can tell that the Beeb think this is what the audience wants and personally I couldn't care less. It's lovely if people do find love, it's lovely if they get on but it's not why I watch the show.

THis.

I suspect shes worried being paired off with an attractive young man will start tongues wagging again...

She has been involved with 3 dancers on the show now!!

INteresting you say this. Its interesting that shes worked best with big personalities:

Matt DA
Russell
Vincent of course her dance partner and to a lesser extend Jimi (I say that as we didnt see too much of him as he didnt stay as long as expected)

With another shy, reserved person, Im not sure if they will do so well.

Being as there is a dance off, I wouldve thought (barring any disasters that this will give them a free pass to the finals (unless theyre up in the dance off against a REALLY strong couple)

Watching their dance again, I thought Flav was extremely energetic, By comparison Louis looked mechanical and flat footed.I suspect he will give WOW performances in ballroom, which will fit in better with his gymnastics training...

It seems Louis was brought up by his mother, who is on a well earned pedestal, so Louis may just be very respectful of women.

To be fair, she has actually escaped a lot of the flak that a man would have had in the same set of circumstances.

It's not really tongue wagging/the rumour mill if it's actually true

Another one here who hopes that whatever is hampering the chemistry can be overcome. Louis is very promising but if there is no connection in a partnership I for one can't enjoy the dancing. I do think Louis should have been paired with Karen as she is more outgoing and would have livened him up, also Nicky seems much more outgoing and would have been better with the quieter Flavia. I don't think it is a Jimmy problem, just two reserved people who need someone a bit more lively as partners.

Flavia is a great dancer and teacher and I just hope that as the weeks go on they can get a better connection on the dance floor.

Oh yes they could. Michael Phelps the American swimmer who has won 19 Olympic Gold medals has ADHD - google it if you don't believe me.

Didn't know that. Thanks for the information.

It appears to me (and it's a totally personal opinion and I accept that I could be totally wrong) that the lack of warmth is coming from Flavia's side. She seems to not want to touch him or go near him at all (apart from the dancing). This is totally at odds with how she was with other dance partners, even the guy (Craig?) that couldn't dance for peanuts!

This leads me to believe that something must have occured that put her off him, bigtime. She looks totally ill at ease with him. It's a real shame, because they could have been great, but I think the lack of warmth between them will affect their chances.

Their body language seems much better in the aftershow clip, both smiling widely and standing very close, but then they all seem lovely in this clip.

Flavia shy?
Perhaps I have a different (continental?) definition of being shy. Can someone who has performed in skimpy outfits for thousands of people in competitions and millions of viewers on TV really be called shy?
Perhaps reserved is a better word.

Flavia IS very shy. I can confrm that.

You might be surprised to learn that a good many, perhaps even the majority, of performers are shy. They can adopt a character for the show, but outside, they are totally different people.

I've come across this many times and it surprises a lot of people.

Flavia can wear the costumes because that's her professional world, She can do the dances because she's been trained and she loves them. But outside the studio, when she's not working.... she's very low key and keeps out of the limelight.

I don't know for sure in Flavia's case, but dancers often have real life partners who are also in the business, as it's such a closed world. If you are on Strictly you get a different kettle of partner and many that widens Flavia's options a little! I don't think it's anyone's business what Flavia does with her private life at all.

I'm not a big Twitter maven but I'm wondering if Twitter's given us any clues to the relationship between the pair at all?

TBH I don't ever remember feeling a sizzling chemistry between Flavia and any of her celebrity partners, even Matt or Jimi (though her dancing with Vincent is another matter entirely). The way Flavia choreographs tends to preclude an overt need for it - lots of side-by-side movements etc. and not a lot of clutching each other or gynaecological poses. So I don't think it's necessarily a big problem that Louis isn't a massively outgoing camera-loving type.

I think both Flavia and Louis come across as very sweet people who would be very worth getting to know in a situation that didn't involve them talking to millions of viewers at once via camera. Having two people like that in a partnership is always going to be tricky for the first few weeks. I look forward to seeing them blossom as they get comfier with one another.

Isn't it taking it a bit too far making some assumptions just from one/two video clips? I thought the romance rumors were awful whenever dance partners on a show have good chemistry and hug a few times, but this is even worse.

Hardly rumours in Flavia's case though.

Plus this whole board is based on taking 10 seconds of footage and creating wild theories about it. It's what we do best.

BIB: Fair enough

But to make assumptions, that Louis had done something to put Flavia off from the short clip IMO is taking it too far. Yes, they seemed to lack chemistry, and not very well connected, but that is all we can assume. JMO

From what I have read on twitter and in interviews there is nothing to suggest there is any dislike between them.

I've met Flavia a fair amount of times now and she is VERY sweet and also very shy. She really is a very lovely person and I have never seen or heard anything from anyone working with her, saying otherwise and quite the contrary in fact. Everyone seems to love her because she has such a pleasant nature. I do only know her as a fan though but she has never come across as anything other than friendly albeit in a very shy manner.

I don't know Louis at all, but he also appears to be very sweet to his fans on twitter etc, I can't judge him on anything other than that, but from what I have seen of him on twitter he is genuinely very nice too.

I think they both have a pretty good partnership together in practice but might just need a little more time than some of the others to be totally at ease in front of the cameras.

I think that the lack of chemistry & height difference is going to be a problem.

I wish he'd been partnered with Natalie who would be more his height & her athletic style would be more suited to him.

He and Natalie are the same height aren't they? 5ft 10, so in heels she'll be at least 3" taller.

Oh and I thought their chemistry on ITT was much better. They talked and communicated, listening to each other's answers, rather than talking all over the top of each other. And he turned to her for a reassurance a few times and she smiled, nodded and encouraged him. I thought they were quite sweet tonight.

For those here who said Louis is boring on the dance floor and Flavia is shy, and thought that might mean they can't win. I have this to say:

Last year, Harry Judd was BORING on the dance floor. Hardly smiled, always 'too cool for school' experession for his latin and fixed quarter-smile (not even a half smile!) on the ballroom (and oftentimes he just looked 'cool'), and Aliona is definitely NOT a live wire (and for that matter a very good friend of Flavia as well). Well, they won!

I loved Pasha and Chelsee last year and supported them till the very end. They were so much more fun to watch. Yet, they lost (well, they came second).

History might repeat itself again this year.

Who are your Chels and Pash this year SCD-O? Or is it too early? It's weird. I know you're describing a defeat (for the couple you supported, and that I supported too) and that this should be frustrating, but you made me nostalgic for last year
