I love Strictly. I don't know much about the footwork of the dancing, but I would like to see the whole dancer when they are dancing please.

Does this annoy anyone else?

There were a couple of times last night when the camera angles were so bad that the couple could have been sitting at sewing machines for all we knew! I don't know if its cos I don't have a widescreen tv (dinosaur that I am) but it seems the camera angles are just too tight to the middle of the dance floor and anything off to the edges is top half body only. And as for having dry ice on the dance floor .... how are you supposed to see the feet, even when the camera does focus on them.

I meant to use one of these to show the depth of my camera angst.

Why on earth would anyone want to see the feet of people who are dancing

If you check some of the early series clips on you tube..the camera hardly moves off full length shots showing footwork.

Does this mean the contestants are getting worse

Or reflecting the fact it's become more and more of a personality contest with the annoying interruption of a bit of dancing thrown in?

^^This, I fear.

It drives me to distraction when we don't get to see their feet, either because of manic camerawork or idiotic dry ice. Now I'm no dancer, so it must be even more frustrating for those viewers who actually know what they're looking for.

I have to give myself a slap and remind myself that this is, indeed, an entertainment show with, as you say, a bit of dancing thrown in.

And if they need to do away with other camography techniques to make way for a full length including feet shot, may I opt for losing the spinning waltzer. Ta very much.

Yes I'm with you on that.

I agree OP. It's long been a complaint of mine. Would it be so hard to show the dancers in full length during the dance?

Me too - I like to see their footwork. Noticed last night for example (on a rare moment of full length shot!) that Dani was doing proper heel turns during her waltz. From Len's comment the night before, it seems Denise wasn't - but it's nice to see these things for yourself.

I only started watching this last year, know nothing at all about dance, and find it so frustrating that we don't see the whole body - Len talking about heel leads and half the time we haven't seen the dancers' feet at all, so how will I ever find out what they're talking about?

That's one reason why I enjoy ITT but we need to see the feet in the performances above all!

I could understand the camera zooming in to capture expression at times, or "armography" because they are also important but dry ice to obscure the feet is just perversely counterproductive.
