Hi,

I have the above STB and a Samsung TV.

Can anybody help me to find out how to stop my STB being switched off automatically when I switch off the television (Even when I switch it off manually or by using the TV remote).

I have spoken to Samsung who, after half an hour debate, say that the only way to have the box playing without the TV is to pull out the HDMI cable - surely this isn't correct?

I sometimes want the STB to work independantly so that my video sender plugged into it will transmit the pictures elsewhere in the house without the main TV being on)

Thanks,

Mike

No problems, you will of course lose auto hdmi port selection. Wierd Samsung didn't suggest this

Have to be honest and admit I have no idea what "Auto HDMI port selection" means in my case

I agree - Samsung Tech Support could only come up with "Pull out the HDMI cable" after half an hour's debate and yet you hit the nail on the head straight away!!

Much obliged to you!

Mike

Just curious,
Why would you not want it to turn off with your TV?

It still records when off and uses 1/40th of the electricity.

Automan.

He explained that in post 1, he wants to watch the output remotely without having the local TV on.

CEC simply automatically selects the right hdmi socket when you turn on the pvr. If you happened to be using a different input or the TV tuner when you turn off the TV then you will have to manually select the hdmi port for the pvr when you need it.

Sorry, I must have missed that, perhaps covered by one of the many advert banners now on this site...

Or I am just getting old

Sorry to latch on to this thread but I need help please.
In the settings, how do I turn off "audio description" when it is highlighted and I press "OK" or right arrow, it just flits between dolby digital/dts and audio description without turning it to off.
Hope someone can help.
Regards.

Well I did not receive any help from anyone on here, but I have sorted it.
This may help others for what its worth, after trying a factory reset that did not work, I checked all cabling at the back of the box, and the hdmi cable was not pushed home properly due to my wife dusting.
simple problem now resolved.
