I suspect that some of those who complain about the spoiler thread are ones who say they dont want to know, but can't resist looking and are then cross with themselves (and us) afterwards.

I'm the only one who has complained in this thread, so it's a fair assumption to say you are talking about me. All I can say is, your suspicion is incorrect. Thankfully I have more self-discipline as should those who do read the spoiler thread.

If you are coming from the perspective of knowing the result ahead of the show, you may not particularly notice when people mention the result outside of the spoiler thread - it wouldn't stand out to you as it would to someone who wasn't aware of the result. Other posters, those more generous than yourself, would probably admit that they have nearly slipped up on occasion; keeping a secret, even one as frivolous as a dance-off result, is easier said than done. Not to mention those who deliberately let the cat out of the bag by using heavy, unsubtle hints. Because, you know, some people just have to show off the fact they know something you don't.

Pompous or what? Blueabu didn't deserve that!

I don't think those who read the spoiler thread should have more discipline, it is up to the individual whether they want to know in advance or not.

Maybe the answer is to have a discussion thread purely for people who don't know the spoiler, running from the end of the Saturday show to the end of the Sunday show?

yeah it says spoiler - so it is up to people if they want to read it or not

No I do see Smokeychan's point, I think the result is often slightly spoiled and that must be frustrating. However I don't think the answer is to ban the spoiler thread- I'd quite like to see a 'non-spoiler only' discussion thread tried out.

I would tend to agree - I know the spoiler thread IS very clearly marked and people not wanting to know the result dont go in there BUT posters do sometimes "forget" and the result gets posted elsewhere but it does sometimes end up outside the spoiler thread when its not supposed to

I didnt want to know the pairings but found out when some inconsiderate person decided they would post about them in a non spoiler thread

Thanks ladies. I wasn't trying to be pompous, nor try to spoil anyone's fun (hence me making a point of saying the best solution would be to have the results show back to where it used to be - the same night as the main show). I got caught out with the pairings too Olive and as a result didn't bother watching the launch night show. Thankfully I won't need to stay away from this forum for 3 weeks to avoid the dance off results!

Oh I really, really hope that there will be a spoiler thread and that someone will kindly send the result to footygirl

I really, really love the spoiler thread, there is real cameraderie (sp?) in it, and watching the panda or tiger cams while waiting

I agree

have now taken to the habit of having nibbles and drinks of some sort whilst the whole thing is going on

There is only one way of removing the spoiler thread and that is....

to have the results show on the Saturday night *rocket science*

That said, I like the craic on the spoiler forum while waiting for the spoiler

Last year there was a poster who did reveal the spoiler outside of the thread and as it was wrong that their posts were removed asap (but not soon enough for some folk).

BIB - The thing is, that's not going to happen, in this series at least, so we are stuck with it. It seems that there are more people who want a spoiler thread than those that don't want one. I would have thought if the mods put up a pinned warning that spoilers should stay in the clearly marked spoiler thread and anyone putting spoilers in other threads would be banned for a couple of weeks, people would be more careful.

.......or maybe continue to use the Saturday show discussion thread, which lots of people do anyway?

P.S. I love spoilers! Hope we can get one this week.

Completely agree with this.

I never watch the Sunday results show as I really can't stand all the faffing around and the way they pretend it isn't a continuation of Saturday. If there was no spoiler thread then I'd have to wait until I read it online somewhere else on a Sunday.

No, I can't agree that people should be banned for letting the cat out of the bag. As long as DS allow a spoiler thread for a show that hasn't yet aired, then it would be terribly unfair to then punish posters for a corporate decision. If someone came into the result show discussion thread and decided consciously to reveal the result before it is televised, then a ban for trolling is fair enough, but most of the incidents I have come across are genuinally accidental - or appear so.

As someone else said, the majority of DS-SCD readers prefer to know the result ahead of time, so I will just stay away from the forum until after the Sunday night show.

That's one of the reasons I don't watch the Sunday show but I record it and fast forward to any bits I want to watch. Of course this year there will be the dance off so I might watch that just to see if I agree with the judges. If we didn't have a spoiler thread I would just fast forward to the end to see who had gone or find out on here after the show but I'd rather not wait that long when I know full well the show has already happened.

Thank you, thank you, thank you. If I could kiss your knees (don't do feet) I would.
I miss watching most shows at the time of airing and I always have to miss the Sunday show so last year having the spoiler thread on a Saturday night was fantastic.

Olive you are a star, but you know what some of the dopes are like on the spoiler thread. Please, please post even if the dopes pipe up. You know us oldies appreciate your efforts.

You're not a troll, you're an angel! *mwah, mwah, mwah* thank you!

I don't want to spoil anybody's anticipation and I'll keep my comments in the spoiler thread. People can enjoy the show any way they want to and it's not my intention to ruin their fun.

I do even watch the Sunday show, it's just that I can't stand the prolonged pauses as the spotlight rolls around the contestants, it's cringeworthy. If I know beforehand I can just watch and go "Yeah, yeah".

Olivej thank you in advance! You were unfairly targeted last year and I hope that those people do not ruin these threads this year.

I look forward to reading the spoiler thread on saturday and will have a mega batch of homemade cheese straws prepared and a jug (or 10) of pimms!!
