The main shows are Yes (apart from launch show) but the results show isn't.

The programme is live but some of the pro dances & singing acts are pre recorded. The Sunday results show is NOT live & recorded on Saturday night after the main live show has finished

If it wasn't live they could have let Victoria do her dance again

And cut down Bruce bits.
Would all be very pointless if it wasn't live lol!

There is a difference between being filmed live and broadcast live.

Both this weekends shows appeared to be broadcast live. Where the Sunday show is filmed live on Saturday then edited before showing on Sunday. Why the results are known before the Sunday show is aired.

Well, I was there on Friday for the first show. They recorded a musical act for later in the series, and then the pro dance we saw on Saturday, before going in to the live show.

And yes, being there was every bit as fabulous as I could ever have imagined it would be.

We were up in the balcony, right by Tess's Area, close enough to smile and say hello to the dancers, and be in some camera shots.

So all in all, I'm a very excited and happy bunny this weekend!

Oooh Fawn+1, that must have been so exciting! When did you find out you had tickets?

We were lucky to be there on Friday too and I have had a smile on my face ever since.

We were to the right of the judges, they came on and off right in front of us a couple of times as they filmed various bits for other shows. Len shook hands and chatted, Bruno was Bruno, Darcy smiled, Craig obviously had the hump that night he acknowledged no one. Whilst they were dancing Bruce came off and stood next to us, he chatted a bit and had his make up re-touched.

Tess came past us to do a bit of extra filming, she smiled and said hello, my husband believes it was directed at him, so now he won't have a bad word said against her, to be fair she did look quite stunning, god damn her!

Johnny Ball and Lewis Smith chatted to us and after the filming had finished most of them came off the dance floor past us. As you can tell I absolutely loved, loved, loved it. It was well worth the hours and hours of queuing.

Thanks Fawn and J-Zee, I always love to hear from people who've been to the show.

My friend found out about 10 days beforehand; he has been applying for tickets for years!

We also found out about two weeks before, the warm up man said that one million people had applied for tickets, don't know if he was exaggerating, I suppose it is possible.

Thanks Fawn+1 and J-Zee. I've applied for tickets this year, so I was curious. What an amazing experience!

While I accept that it is broadcast as live/uneditted, is there not a slight time delay just in case something serious happened - I'm thinking Tommy Cooper I believe Big Brother always had one.

I think Big Brother always has a bit of a time delay in case they burst into song, it gives them chance to cut the sound to avoid paying royalties.

Ooh do tell, who is this "musical act" for later in the series?

Could you explain that again please?

It Takes Two is live each night too although they do sometimes pre-record some of the stuff when people can't make it into the studio.

All of the filming was done on Friday.

It was then broadcast in two parts. The broadcast we saw on Friday was not live. It was half of what had been already recorded. The other half was broadcast on Saturday. Bruce and Tess always make out that it's live but it isn't. And Tess changes dresses to give the impression that it's happening on Saturday although it was all filmed on Friday.

Everything on Friday was live. The pro number was pre-recorded (to avoid having to change costumes in minutes) but everything else on Saturday was live. In other words, with the exception of a few minutes at the beginning of Saturday, everything we saw at the weekend was live.

Next week, the whole Saturday show will be live; the Sunday results show will be pre-recorded on Saturday night.

BIB I dont believe there is a slight time delay - remember when Karen and Mark got tangled up together in their microphone wires, they just stopped dancing and some "floor girl" rushed on to help them, poor Bruce clearly had no idea why they had stopped dancing and hurried on to the floor to find out why and did an impromptu dance with the "floor girl" she has was heading back from the dance floor

Also when Lilias strap broke during her samba with Darren Gough - she kept going (how, i dont know, holding her strap up with one hand so she didnt expose herself on national tv) but if there was a time delay, I dont think we would have seen these incidents

As for what happens if they have a serious accident - goodness knows - it hasnt happened yet and I pray it doesnt!

Until today when I watched last week's DWTS I would have said there is no time delay, but on the DWTS results show we saw a dance where there was a wardrobe malfunction and it was revealed that there is a five second delay on the show.

I wouldn't be surprised if that is not the case on Strictly and on any live show that has been broadcast since Tommy Cooper collapsed on stage and later died from a heart attack, when he was performing on a show called Live From Her Majesty's in 1984 (as mentioned by Missy Moo).

A few seconds time delay would only be used when there was a serious incident and I wouldn't class a wardrobe malfunction as serious.

The only bit of the Saturday show that was recorded on Friday was the pro dance at the beginning (where you see Christina and Natalie preening at the mirror before the dance started). That was filmed on Friday because they had time before a live broadcast at 9pm, and gave them chance to get changed before the performances started.

This post made me chuckle, mainly because I'm pretty sure you were serious with it.
