Eastenders portrayal of babies
The scene where Michael left Scarlet to cry whilst he turned the TV up - Janine walking out on her baby = distasteful
The baby swap = distasteful Amy almost drowning in the bath Michelle's saga with Vicky - unknown father to start with Honey and Billy having a down syndrome baby (although nicely portrayed) Ronnie miscarrying Ronnie having a stillborn baby Lola and Lexi Mary leaving her baby sometimes alone Miller daughter with her baby and drug addict father Baby George losing his mum The question is: is Eastenders capable of producing a positive s/l around babies? |

who cares? babies are only props for older characters. They have no value in terms of other contribution to the show.

I think they do a good job discouraging teen pregnancy and other unplanned pregnancies, too many people just have kids thinking 'meh, it'll be alright, the government will give me a house!' etc
![]() There was avery stupid period where every storyline did seem to revolve around babies though so i hope we wont hear anyone is pregnant for a while! |

Babies have to instigate some sort of drama, or there's absolutely no point in introducing them.
The only recent exception to this really, is Kamil Masood. EE started down the potentially interesting route of Zainab not wanting the baby but then dropped the idea about 2 episodes later. Since then he's been an afterthought. So is Oscar Branning but at least he had a purpose, to start with (to add another layer of drama to the whole "Stax" storyline.) |
