Multiple voting is seriously mental in my opinion. Both acts will get deals so it's really irrelevant who wins as their career is going to be limited anyway.

Why not buy 5 copies of the Band Aid single tomorrow instead - at least your £20 won't be totally wasted (or donate the cash direct to Band Aid or another worthy cause instead)”

Thats a bit patronising isn't it RPM? I spend my money on what gives me pleasure. I sponsor a little girl in Cambodia, I pay monthly to Oxfam, Greenpeace and NSPCC, I buy the Big Issue every week, shall I go on? No, I dont think its anyones business really or that anyone will be interested but if I want to spend £10 or even £20 of my hard earned cash on voting rather than down the pub where I might usually spend it on a Saturday night I don't think thats up to anyone but me

The originator asked a perfectly valid question and yet again the rather patronising replies by the same old people have kind of killed the thread.

As for the Band Aid single, I bought the first one and I don't rate this one very much. Having watched the making of it with the huge ego's that abounded it makes me realise how different times are to when the first one was made. I'll give my money to good causes in my own way. Thanks

So far on this X-Factor show, my total expenditure is £0.00

I agree with RPM (well, except the last paragraph - Band Aid 20 is rubbish)

I voted once for Rowetta each week and twice the week she was voted off. I won't be voting tonight because I although I prefer Steve slightly, I don't really mind who wins. I have to say, I haven't had any sleepless nights over increasing my phone bill and I give to the charities I want to give to in the way I want to give.
I don't begrudge Simon Cowell or ITV or BT making money out of phone polls the same way as I don't begrudge anybody making money out of providing a service that I can buy into or not - it is purely voluntary and we do happen to live in a capitalist society.

the producers must love people like you, people with no sense of perspective or logic. i bet they're laughing all the way to the bank and most of it is directed at the obsessives who don't know when to stop.... a vote is one thing...but eighty quid?

Being the best singer in the final doesn't mean she's any good. They are both crap.

I think paying £5 for a packet of cigarettes is silly but people still do it. I'd rather Simon Cowell made money than a big multi national cigarette company but each to their own.

i have to agree...with the 3 judges going out of their way to get their own the winner as you would expect....my 1 vote per week is more than enough...i'll vote ONCE for steve tonight on principal for his performance throughout the series, but being that sharon is more against steve than for G4 and has no interest other than that...i might not even bother with that..let their fans battle it out

It wasn't meant in a patronising way. I'm not alone in being genuinely shocked that someone would waste £80 on a reality TV show.

If you were unmoved by the footage which was shown to the participants and the genuine emotion which it provoked then you must have a heart of stone.

If you buy the Band Aid 20 single you'll also get the original version plus the Live Aid version (which has never been released on CD before)

The point about the Band Aid single is that it shouldn't matter whether you like it or not. £3.99 may help keep someone alive. If you feel strongly about the new version then make a direct donation.

At no point in my post did i say i had spent £80 on voting - i said my PHONE BILL was £80 - don't jump to conclusions and make assumptions.

Yes my post was not clear but i wrote it last night quite late after some wine (!) - still doesn't give you the right to judge me or make assumptions about me.

If i chose to spend money on voting (and it was a very small % of the bill) that is up to me - i enjoy watching X Factor, have never voted on any reality show before.

I'm sure if all the critics who dived on that post looked at what they spend, they are all giving money to somone or something that other people feel is wasteful and lining pockets of people who don't need it.

It does make me laugh that there are a select few who feel they have the right to judge strangers who are innocently supporting something they enjoy and doing no harm to anyone. Actually, no it doesn't make me laugh, it infuriates me.

People are entitled to spend their money whichever way they choose, but I have been truly shocked how much some posters on this thread have said they spend on phone voting - especially at this time of year I am not saying there will be some fans of Steve multi-voting tonight, but every multi voter on this thread seems to be backing G4. If G4 win tonight, it will be a very skewed vote - what good do you think it will do them if they recieve say 2,000,000 votes, but they are from 250,000 people? They will have no more success than Michelle McManus who was also voted in on an emotional vote. G4 will probably achieve a number one single, then disappear back into obscurity as they will not have the fan base to sustain their popularity.

I have to say that the week Ro went, I actually spent £30 on texts, not sure how many that was. I didn't realise until afterwards how much I had spent. In my defence I was a bit drunk and just kept on pressing send - I was worried she was going to be out that week, and she did so my £30 made no difference at all. Having said that, every other week I normally put one or 2 texts in for Ro and have never voted before on a reality show or will again. As for the critics of how much money people spend - get a life! I am 36 years old, work full time, pay my mortgage and bills and will spend the rest of my money on what I like!

But then some people just have to disagree for disagreements sake. They can't let people get on with it and have to criticise and comment.

I'm not saying! You'll think I am loonie! (especially since I cannot afford them!)
But if G4 win, it'd all have been worth it!
