The Billy Joel Appreciation Thread.
I have always been a fan of singer/songwriters, they don't come much finer than New Yorker Billy Joel. Often referred to as the American Elton John, but I think there is a lot more depth to Joel's music. Forget the annoying 'Uptown Girl', Joel has covered subjects such as drug dealers in 'Captain Jack' and unemployment in 'Allentown'.
This is from his 1st solo album 'Cold Spring Harbor'. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_i7G7V_4Wx4 |

I love "Goodnight Saigon". When I first heard it, I was in tears. A genuinely emotional song.
I agree with you about "Uptown Girl". Was it Billy's attempt at a homage to the "boy groups" of the fifties ? |

I see this thread's not been posted on for a long time!
Off to see BJ on Saturday at Wembley Stadium, I'm beyond excited as I work my way through his back catalogue in preparation
