Mel B was signed to be a judge on series 1, but was dropped for Sharon Osbourne.
I remember her ranting that Simon is still going to have to pay her full fee.. does anyone remember this?

this was discussed recently on that programme `the talent show story`. they didn't mention her being dropped in favour of osbourne. i think they said that they wanted mel, but it didn't work out and then they approached sharon. similarly, they initially wanted pete waterman for louis`s role, but pete didn't want to do it.

I think ultimately its good they opted for Sharon in the first series. I think her and the relationships between the 3 of them is what made the show a success.
